@xinqu5 there was no debts in 1997, the British colonial officers left around USD 70 billions in Hong Kong's Treasury, but the Chinese communist government used up soon after handover and Hong Kong has more and more debts after 1997. Macau is also a European colony but she was poor during the colonial period, it prove that the British colonial officers contributed to the success of Hong Kong

@xinqu5 in 1946, UK attempted to give HK higher degree of democracy and introduced "Young Plan" , but Chinese Communist party didn't allow and threat UK that they would invade HK if any constitutional reform was introduced. Hong Kong was handed over to China in 1997, majority of us still have the colonial memories, but you don't have the colonial memories, ao you can't justice the British colonization
