  4. This is a sad truth about journalism today. I used to work for an outlet that frequently gave me instructions on what to write when it came to reviews and "opinion" pieces. Many times being given pretty much a pre-written article (from either the company behind the game or the competition) which I was essentially told to put into my own words. There were often specific things that I was supposed to mention, key phrases that some PR person obviously came up with, that I would notice came up in a lot of other articles at the same time. While this isn't ethical journalism my any means, it's also not something people can just accuse specific journalists of doing. Much like the issues with "crunch time" in the video game industry that have been coming to light, this "canned journalism" is a do or die situation for many journalists. They're basically told what to write, and if they refuse, then they're out of a job for not towing the line. And while many find it distasteful to be made to write such articles, the sad truth is that most (myself included) simply don't have a choice because they have bills to pay, and being fired (and knowing your former employers will do what they can to make sure you don't get hired by other outlets) is not an option many people have. Again, as you said, it all comes down to the money. There are millionaires out there who want to make sure they can scrape a few more pennies out of sources by basically controlling the narrative. It's capitalism at work.
