First, scholarships are rare and limited. Most schools will only give out a set number of scholarships.
They are also incredibly hard to get. There are countless hoops to jump through, far more than simply "having good grades".
Many schools have been exposed only giving scholarships of children who belong to families that have donated to the school, or are in government positions that can influence the schools.
Second, even if you get a scholarship, where it can be used, and what it actually covers are incredibly specific. In many cases, the scholarship doesn't cover most of the fees associated with going to college. They might cover some basic enrollment, yet no cover books and devices that might be needed, extended tuition fees, definitely don't cover living expenses.
This "just get a scholarship" argument is incredibly stupid.

"He brought American jobs back."
No he didn't. In fact he's the first president since Hoover to have NEGATIVE job growth.
"He lowered our taxes."
No he didn't. He lowered taxes for the 1%, and in fact greatly INCREASED taxes on the rest of the population.
"Wages and employment were better for every hardworking American."
False. In fact in no time since the Great Depression were wages and employment WORSE for hardworking Americans than under him.
"He made America safer."
False. In fact crime (especially hate crimes) skyrocketed under him. He gave out government secrets to America's enemies. He sold out to Putin and allowed Russia to attack America and then lied to cover it up. He surrendered to the Taliban, handing them Afghanistan and releasing 5000 of their soldiers including their leader, all without telling the Afghan government, and without any sort of plan to bring the forces home (whom he was more than willing to sacrifice). He ruined relations with all of America's allies while strengthening its enemies. At no time in recent history has America been MORE unsafe than under his dementia addled, idiotic rule.
"He took on China directly."
Actually he sent a record number of American factories and jobs over to China. He gave China massive advantages in every trade deal with the US, crippling various US industries especially farming. He also had some illegal construction deals set up with China. All the while keeping a previously secret Chinese bank account. He literally paid more money in taxes to China than he's ever paid to the US.
"America was stronger all around the world."
Again, false. At no point in recent history had American been more weak and undefended.
"Freedom and democracy was stronger."
Again, false. He literally enacted fascist policies, illegally used police to violate the rights and freedoms of Americans, violated the Constitution countless times, and tried to literally end democracy with the insurrection he incited and the numerous coup plans he had in motion.

Queen Elizabeth was a mechanic and driver during WWII. She served her country, not just as a soldier, but as a monarch.
She didn't want to be Queen, but had no say in the matter. She was expected to essentially just be a figurehead and stay completely neutral in all things regarding politics. No matter what party took power, no matter what policies they chose to push, she was supposed to just sit there quietly and smile, otherwise there could be a political uprising.
So she sat there, quietly, wearing clothing with the colors of a nation she was supporting, wearing a broach that was a symbol of a country or an ideology. She would make her opinions knows to family, who would then go out and speak to others and spread the word. For example, when the horrific Brexit decision was made, she was sitting there quietly wearing an outfit proudly symbolizing the EU (the colors and a broach representing the EU pinned over her heart).
She did what she could to push for an end to slavery and racism, pushing for equality and respect, while the politicians tried to keep a deathgrip on the country and colonialism.
Most Royal women (and politicians) are Fae Wray, Queen Elizabeth was Sigourney Weaver. She wasn't going to let anyone push her around. Sure, she'll do her duty to the country and the monarchy, but she will throw all the shade she could while doing it. Such as when she unfortunately had to meet with the orange traitor. She proudly wore the broach that Obama gave her every time she had to be in a room with him.
When she was meeting with the king of Saudi Arabia, they all gathered into the Royal Land Rovers (much like how the US president has those presidential SUV's). The Saudi royal got into the car only to find the Queen behind the wheel. In Saudi Arabia, women were not allowed to drive. She drove him to the palace, pushing the car to the limits, breakneck speeds, tight turns... would have made Fast & Furious proud... and scared the Saudi leader to death. Hopped out of the car with a smile, while he needed help because he was shaking too much.
As much criticism as the Royal Family rightfully gets... the Queen Mum was unique. She devoted herself to her duty and to the people, and to delivering change in whatever way she could. And was an inspiration to women the world over, showing them that they didn't have to be the tradition frail girls that men expected them to be. And for 70 long years she was a rock. A symbol of strength and stability in a world of endless change and uncertainty.

Republicans are openly anti-woman.
They love to lie about giving a shit about the unborn... yet they gut pre and post natal care, healthcare, food stamps, affordable housing, and other things which new mothers often rely on. They try to ensure that a child is born and then dies starving in the streets.
And they expose their blind hatred time and time again.
Mrs. Cox is being told by Republicans in Texas that "the unborn has rights" and that's why she can't have an abortion. Even though there's zero chance of the child surviving. They KNOW the child will likely not be born, and if it is it will die shortly thereafter. But then the suffering is the point.
Meanwhile Mrs. Issa, a female prison guard in Texas, who was pregnant, was facing pains. She tried to get time off work to go to the doctor to make sure her pregnancy is okay. The prison she worked for refused. And she ended up losing the baby. The doctors told her that if she was allowed to see her doctor when she asked, the baby would have been saved.
She tried to sue the prison, because their refusal to let her see a doctor murdered her baby.
The Texas court told her that she COULD NOT sue, because "the unborn has no rights", so the prison can't be held accountable for killing her baby.
They don't care. They will argue completely opposing points at the same time, all towards a single goal. Making sure women suffer and die.

Getting AIDS wasn't a choice.
Getting vaccinated is. And it's the right one.
Protecting yourself, your family, and everyone you might come in contact with from a lethal virus that has killed over 750,000 American and millions around the world is simply the only sane choice to make. The vaccine is irrefutably safe and effective. There is literally no reason not to take it. And all the reasons to do so.
Anti-vaxx sheep scream idiocies like "we're being discriminated against", when they're not. If a store refused business to someone who won't wear a mask, that's not discrimination, that's them doing their civic duty to keep their employees and customers safe. You can choose to wear a mask and be a citizen of America, or you can take your business elsewhere. NOTHING gives you the right to threaten the health and wellbeing of EVERYONE you come across.
Your freedom to swing your fist ends when it might come in contact with another person, who has the right to health and safety, which you are not allowed to violate.
If you want to sit at home and isolate, nobody cares if you have a mask or are vaccinated. But if you're going to be out among people, then you have a RESPONSIBILITY as a US citizen to wear a mask and get vaccinated. Your rights and freedoms don't exist if you don't follow your responsibilities as a citizen.

The US went in originally to push back the Taliban. They succeeded within the first year. They should have packed up and left right then and there. But they needlessly stayed, escalating the conflict.
They "trained" Afghan troops, but never let them get any real experience, as the US was always taking charge. And US troops were constantly being cycled out and replaced.
Meanwhile some Taliban soldier who was 16 when this started, is now a 36 year old veteran with 20 years of ACTIVE BATTLE EXPERIENCE. The US essentially managed to turn a rag tag bunch of terrorists into hardened battle experts who are a match for any soldiers the US can deploy.
And then the US runs away with its tail between its legs claiming that the Afghan army is trained and can handle things. Except again, they have no practical experience. Plus they don't have US air support, satellite, intel, and infinite military resources. So they're leaving a bunch of green troops who all belong to different tribes, against a trained elite fighting force. The Afghan troops are going to surrender and beg for peace and the lives of their tribe, they don't give a damn about the country as a whole.
And the guy claimed that they succeeded in their mission to prevent the Taliban striking the US again. Yes, they did that... at the beginning... and then they empowered the Taliban to the strongest and best equipped and trained they've ever been. And have handed all of Afghanistan over to them. They thought 9/11 was bad? Well they better be prepared for hundreds more such attacks, as now instead of small, scattered terrorist cells, the Taliban is a COUNTRY with countless troops and resources to burn.

Yup, it's because right wingers are brainless sheep who only know how to regurgitate the lies and propaganda they're told to. They're incapable of independent thought.
If they're told to hate a thing, they will hate it by the name they hear it called. When they hear it called something else, that they haven't been programmed to despise, they'll generally be greatly in favor of it.
We saw this with the Affordable Care Act. They were trained to despise Obamacare and react with violence to the mere mention of it. Meanwhile it was something like 80%+ of Republicans were in favor of the ACA. Because they were too stupid to realize that the ACA IS Obamacare. So they react to the trigger word, without a lick of understanding about what it actually means. So when parts of Obamacare were repealed, right wingers cheered for that while screaming in rage about "why did they cut back on the ACA? I love that program! I rely on that program!" And people had to try and explain to them that Obamacare IS the ACA, and that they helped ensure that the program they relied on was gutted. And many of them simply couldn't grasp that concept. "No! I love the ACA, it's Obamacare that is evil and murdering seniors with its death panels!" All nonsense that never had any truth to it, but they simply couldn't accept reality.
It's the same thing now. If you talk to a right winger about just a program without bringing parties or slogans (like Green New Deal) into it, they are almost always in full support. I know plenty of right wingers who are 100% for converting to green energy, doing away with oil and switching to electric... all of it. But if you mention the GND, then they will go on a mindless tirade about how it's the death of America, how it will sacrifice billions of jobs and devastate the economy and whatever idiotic lies and anti-American propaganda they've had drilled into their heads.

Part of the problem with his properties is that they're literally falling apart. There was the report done on like a dozen of his properties a month or two ago. And they're vastly under code. Rusty pipes, exposed lighting and wires, faulty wires, broken AC and heating units, crumbling furniture, paint and wallpaper peeling, rotting carpets, etc.
He's been using his properties to launder money so much, with nobody actually staying in them, that they've basically never been properly maintained. Even for the brief period when they were being used properly, and not just for illegal activities, he never gave the buildings proper maintenance. Some of them failed to be up to code as soon as a year after they were built. He just bribed the right people to allow him to keep them open.
There are slumlords with better quality properties than a lot of his buildings.

People against EV's make stupid cracks about how an electric vehicle is useless, and when China rolls in with tanks, your EV's won't be able to outrun them. Don't know why people compare EV's to tanks, but hey, they're anti-science, so logic is beyond them.
But in Ukraine, you have soldiers on E-bikes with anti-tank missiles strapped to them, running circles around Russian tanks and outflanking them to destroy them. Silent, quick and easy to use. And they're crushing tanks with them. And that's just a bike.
Seems to me that little Prius would stomp a tank.
Not to mention the reason the first Russian advance stalled, was because they ran out of gas. Seems ending reliance on gas would be a great tactical advantage, along with literally saving the world.

1) You can't mandate people wear a mask.
Yes they can.
2) That mask is killing people.
No it's not.
3) We know what citizen's arrest is.
No you don't.
4) Obeying the devil's laws.
Trump didn't make these laws.
5) You people enforcing the laws are going to be arrested.
No they won't.
6) Doctor who is doing what he can to save lives will be arrested for crimes against humanity.
No they won't.
7) Every single one of you have a smirk behind that mask.
Yes, because it's funny listing to a brainless moron showing how incredibly stupid she is.
8) They're going to get punished by god.
Putting aside the whole "is there a god?" thing... Would god not APPROVE of people trying to save lives?
9) 6 feet is military protocol.
It is not.
10) When the 5G comes out...? Um, okay, whatever conspiracy nonsense she's trying to claim...
Everyone who owns a cellphone, a credit card or a license is ALREADY BEING TRACKED. Everything you do in modern society is tracked. People make up psychotic claims about Gates wanting to put microchips in people through vaccines to track them. HE DOES NOT HAVE TO. You're giving every single bit of your person data to companies globally ALL THE TIME. Trying to chip people is a waste of time and money when you can just go online and see where they are, how they spend, etc.
11) Are you insane? Are you crazy?
No, that would be you.
12) Open the meeting with a prayer to god, are you praying to the devil?
No, they're praying to god. You just said that yourself.
13) God is not listening to that prayer.
No, he's self isolating and binge watching Netflix right now.
14) All of you are practicing the devil's law.
Again, Trump didn't make these laws. He'd rather see the entire population of the US dead before he admits he completely fucked up any chances of saving the country from the pandemic.
15) What happened to Bill Gates? Why is he not in jail?
Well, apart from the fact that he's a rich white man, he's also been one of the key people in funding research into the virus.
16) Why is Hilary Clinton not in jail?
Again, rich and white. Also didn't do anything to go to jail for (that we know of).
17) Why are all these pedophiles demanding you listen to their rules not in jail.
Well, the Republicans actually didn't make up these rules. But yes, they should all be locked up for life.
18) Are you part of the deep state?
Well, as there is no deep state, I'll go with no.

So on the day the insurrection happened, Brazilian authorities declared it as officially being an insurrection and a terrorist attack against the nation.
They arrested over 1500 people that day, and have arrested hundreds more since then. INCLUDING all police who were present at the insurrection AND DID NOTHING. So any cops who were found laughing with the insurrectionists and taking selfies, were classified as insurrectionists themselves and arrested. Which is 100% what should have happened in the US.
Currently, Brazil has the death penalty for cases involving war crimes, genocides, terrorism, and crime against humanity. The country's constitution, however, prohibits the use of the death penalty in ordinary crimes.
With this being officially labeled as an insurrection and terrorist attack (something the US hasn't even done with the January 6th insurrection), every single person is looking at 30 years in prison MINIMUM. With many facing execution for the attack.
Brazil is also working hard to track down the instigators of the insurrection (again, something the US is refusing to do). Some officials have been arrested (and will likely face the death penalty for their treason). And Lula DeSilva is working with US officials to try and ensure that Bolsonaro, who has been hiding out in Florida (and with his treasonous orange friend) is extradited to Brazil to face sentencing for his part in the insurrection. Something that he organized with the help of Steve Bannon, who Brazil is also looking at charging (though with Bannon being a US citizen, it's a lot harder).

"Woke" is simply having your eyes opened to issues facing the world. Like systemic racism, or the simple fact that white privilege exists. Being aware that cops will openly murder unarmed black people without consequence and thinking "Maybe they shouldn't do that" is all it takes to be "woke". Things exist. Being aware of reality. Doesn't mean you have to actively fight against it, just recognize the world we live in.
Meanwhile the racists will claim that admitting that they benefit from white privilege means that they're racist. It does not. You don't have to be racist to benefit from it. It's simply there, and you do, like it or not. Trying to argue that it DOESN'T exist... THAT makes you racist, or just incredibly ignorant.
Critical Race Theory is generally a sociology thing taught in post-grad (so it's not like it's being taught to grade school kids anyway) that systemic racism exists. That white privilege exists. That America was built on slavery. And that slavery was, despite what Republicans would have you believe, a bad thing. That's basically it. It's not blaming anyone. It's not saying Bob down the street is a racist and needs to be punished. It's pointing out the inherent racism present in most parts of American life, such as how black people will get denied for bank loans they qualify for just for being black. How cops constantly murder black people without penalty. How a black person selling a house will get vastly less than a white person selling the same house. How many workplaces discriminate against black people when it comes to hiring practices. It's a simple observation of facts. That's it.
But naturally, the racists are up in arms, because ANYTHING that brings attention to the true history of America rather than the white washed mythological version most schools teach, brings the racist history of the country to light. And they will fight tooth and nail to hide that. They claim that admitting that America has issues with racism is "anti-American" or will make children hate America. The truth is, it will empower children to make the country a better place. Of course, a better place is one where those racists don't hold all the power... so...

Biden was on a five day international visit, working on the move the whole time, going from meeting to meeting, making negotiations and showing up for political functions, then traveled back to the US, attended a campaign event, and was active and sharp the entire time.
The guy goes cycling every morning, eats well, and has the best healthcare money can buy.
He is in better shape that some people half his age.
I am sick to death of hearing about how he's "too old". Yes, it would be great to have younger people in office. But Biden himself, while old, is in absolutely no way being hampered by his age.
He's keeping up a schedule that most people would never be able to manage.

Actually, a more accurate comparison would be something like...
Biden was counting cash while he worked for the bank, and a few bills fell under a desk. When he quit, he gave everything back that he could see. Years later, the bills that fell were found, and immediately returned.
The orange traitor was about to be fired from the bank, so he had his people fill bags with cash, and ran out with them all on his last day. When the bank asked for the cash back, he lied and claimed he didn't have it. Then moved it around to stop the bank getting it. Then went to court to try and block the bank getting their cash back. When the bank threatened legal action, he turned over one (of many) bags, and claimed that was everything. He then went on to lie and obstruct more. Until the bank, after being tipped off by someone working for him, got a search warrant to go through his place and reclaim their bags of cash. They got everything they could find, but were still a few bags short, and they found that some of the bags were empty. He kept lying, trying to claim that he didn't have those bags that were literally just reclaimed, but also that they were planted, and that they were his and he was allowed to have them. And now he's in court and his lawyers are scrambling to come up with justifications for why he stole the cash, and is still hiding more.
And all of that could have been avoided if he simply handed it all in the moment they asked for it. It would have been a complete non-issue, as it is with Biden. As it is every time government documents are found after being misplaced for some time, and are immediately returned upon discovery.

Republicans originally were lying about Weiss not being allowed to get Special Counsel status, and how Garland was somehow blocking him.
Weiss himself came out and called Republicans liars to their faces. He stated that Garland gave him complete autonomy and the ability to subpoena anyone he wanted and access any documents needed. He didn't NEED Special Counsel status because he already had unlimited powers anyway.
But naturally Republicans HAVE to lie about everything. Because that's literally all they have. They whined and cried and ranted and threw tantrums DEMANDING Weiss be made Special Counsel. Claiming that it was a cover up, that Garland was stopping Weiss from having access to what he needed.
So Garland called their bluff and assigned Weiss as Special Counsel. And now, naturally Republicans are losing their shit over it.
Why? Well, before, when THEY were in charge, they could have their fake committee hearings, where they'd go in with what they knew were lies and slander. Accuse Hunter of all sorts of things, with absolutely ZERO evidence to support any of it. Even their own witnesses debunked their lies. And they had to openly admit in their own hearings that they lied about everything and have never had any evidence to support any of their claims. In fact their MANY investigations have literally proven Hunter and Joe Biden innocent of all the false Republican accusations.
But they didn't care... they could just keep lying... and now they can't. Because now that Weiss is Special Counsel, if Republicans want to make up a new claim, then they have to come before him with EVIDENCE to back those claims up. Which of course, they can't, because there's no evidence to prove crimes that literally never happened. And if they try to lie in front of him, then they can get charged with perjury. If they try to make up false claims, and refuse to provide evidence, they can be charged with obstruction of justice.
Garland called their bluff and now has put Weiss in full control. And Republicans are crying.
Republicans: "Why isn't Weiss a Special Counsel?! This is obstruction! It's a cover up!"
Garland: "Okay. Here you go, I'll make him Special Counsel, like you asked."
Republicans: "Why is Weiss a Special Counsel?! This is obstruction! It's a cover up!"

Biden had old documents accidentally mixed in with stuff of his from his time in office. When discovered, they were immediately returned. They then went through everything he had, looking for more, which was immediately returned. And that's basically it. It's something that happens unfortunately quite often, but as long as things are immediately turned in when found, that's it. No issues.
The problem with the orange traitor was, he stole hundreds of documents (unclassified, classified and top secret) on his way out, and REFUSED TO RETURN THEM. He lied about having them. Obstructed efforts to retrieve them. Only turned in some after threatened with legal action and lied, claiming it was everything. And eventually a search warrant was issued to gather what they could. Most of it was returned, though many folders were empty (likely in Putin's hands). And they know he still has more. Meanwhile he's still lying, claiming he didn't have them, that they were planted and that they were his, all at the same time.
If he had given in all the documents the moment he was asked to, it would have been just as much of a complete non-issue. Well, mostly, because he also stole top secret documents that aren't allowed to be viewed outside of secure rooms in the Pentagon. A MASSIVE investigation needs to be held to find out how those were smuggled out. But if he just had regular and classified docs (like the handful Biden had misplaced) and turned them in immediately, it never would have even been a headline.

"The economy is the most important things for me."
So then that means you're voting Democrat, right? Because Republicans have always been HORRIFIC with the economy. Every time they're in charge, taxes go up, job numbers go down, wages stagnate or decrease, workers' rights are revoked, unions suffer, the deficit explodes out of control, the cost of goods goes up...
The ONLY people who benefit financially when Republicans are in office are the ultra rich. Because Republicans slash their taxes (while increasing everyone else's) and kill all the regulations forcing companies to do things like, pay a livable wage, ensure workers have health coverage, etc...

So, Biden's people found government documents that were misplaced with various classified and private documents in a secure documents closet, that's been under lock and key since Biden working working there as VP.
They immediately contacted the National Archives, and turned everything over. Did a thorough search to make sure there wasn't anything else there.
They worked with the DoJ to open an investigation into the matter, to prove that nothing else is missing, and to help come up with new policies to ensure that it's less likely that this happen again in future.
So, he did everything right, and followed the law. So Republicans are trying to claim this is some huge scandal, despite it literally not being one.
Also, misplaced government documents is sadly something that happens all the time in the US. Except it's usually not an issue, because when discovered, everyone has always done what Biden did. Immediately report it and make sure everything is properly handed over.
The only time that DIDN'T happen, was with the orange traitor. Who purposefully stole boxes full of documents on his way out, lied about it, obstructed, stashed them around his club where random people could easily access them, kept lying until legal action was threatened at which point he handed over a few and then lied that he'd turned everything over, then kept obstructing until National Archives got a legal search warrant to reclaim their property, to which he lied some more, claiming they were his and they were planted and that as ex-president he was allowed to have them (all false). He conveniently enough, never once argued in court that the documents were actually declassified (because he knows he'd immediately be hit with perjury for that claim). And people working for him have confirmed that there's more documents scattered at his other properties. Which of course, he's still lying about.
Yet to Republicans, both situations are somehow exactly the same. Except they say Biden should be locked up for treason and the orange traitor shouldn't be charged at all because he did nothing wrong.
Truly pathetic.

@williamswenson5315 Yup. In the same school they teach that America started the war against the Nazis, and that the Allies joined in at America's request.
They teach that the Civil War was because of unfair taxes, and not because they didn't want to give up their slaves. They also teach that slave owners were great, caring people, who were generous and gave slaves a chance to work and earn themselves a nest egg so that they could become "real citizens" like everyone else. Completely ignoring the rape, murder, torture, and... you know... SLAVERY.
They've argued to the school board about the lies being taught many times, and always get shut down (along with countless other parents). Meanwhile many parents they actually BELIEVE all that bullshit.
I've asked them why they don't send their kids to another school. But apparently there aren't any other public schools in the area that they can send their kids to. They'd have to move, and right now are barely making rent as it is. So just up and moving isn't an option unfortunately.
But honestly, it's just disgusting that it's not outright ILLEGAL for schools in the US to be teaching such lies as fact.

So ignoring the massive amount of things they've already accomplished, like $15/h minimum wage, the infrastructure bill (which has already started countless massive projects), student debt relief, medicare costs down, monthly drug price caps, getting the troops out of Afghanistan, supporting Ukraine, the EV policies that have slashed the cost of EV's and brought millions of jobs to the US, the lowest unemployment in over 50 years, etc...
Yeah, sure... didn't accomplish anything... except for more than any president in recorded history.

Yes, Facebook is a far right propaganda site. They constantly push posts about election fraud that never happened, right wing lies and anti-American propaganda, Nazi recruitment, and idiotic conspiracy theories. Meanwhile posts that promote help for LGBTQ people suffering abuse, or pushing for civil rights, get buried or deleted.
I'm Jewish, and I was getting AT LEAST one suggestion for a Nazi site on Facebook a day before I stopped using the site.
Twitter's the same thing.
As much as the right loves to lie about social media being "controlled by the left", the opposite is actually the truth (as is always the case with anything the right says). FOX, Shapiro, Jones, etc are ALWAYS the top posts every week on both those sites.

If you want to stop violent crime, you make it vastly harder to get guns.
You have thorough background checks and red flag laws. A deep dive into the person's criminal record, any juvenile detention, social media, contact with friends and family and co-workers.
And have strict red flag laws with ZERO loopholes. If someone has a history of abuse, then they don't get a gun. Period. Not "well, they only abused people when they were angry, so let's hand them a rifle."
In the US military, you have to go through a multi-week training course to learn not only how to fire a gun properly, but also how to clean and store it securely. And all weapons are locked up in the armory. Because there's no reason for soldiers to have guns unless they're out in the field trying to kill people.
And they have to repeat a training course EVERY YEAR to qualify to keep using their weapon.
If the military can be that strict with letting SOLDIERS have access to guns, that should be the ABSOLUTE MINIMUM for civilians.

The way it's SUPPOSED to work is that if you want to filibuster a bill, you have to stand up and argue against it until the time to pass the bill passes. You're supposed to stand there (for literally 60+ hours on end) and it only stops if time to vote ends, you give up, or a majority of the Senate (60 of the 100 members) vote to end the filibuster. Because the Republicans don't want to allow laws to pass that might help the country, they will ALWAYS filibuster, and they will never be part of the majority vote to stop the filibuster.
The problem is, these days, they don't stand there and keep arguing as they're supposed to. They basically say that they'll filibuster, and rather than someone standing there, they'll just say it's done and walk away. Which is completely against how it's supposed to work. But the Republicans don't give a damn about rules or the Constitution. They just want to see America burn.
This is why it needs to be removed. If the Dems don't do away with it, NOTHING will ever get through the Senate. The Republicans will make sure of it.

So, with all the perfectly valid things to complain about with Biden, you STILL have to go with the made up lies and bullshit? Biden isn't some doddering old fool who's mind is gone. Unlike the previous guy who didn't even know how words worked and believed the stupidest lies that toddlers knew were complete crap.
There are countless problems with Biden, which is why the left HATES him as a person. Sure, his approval rating is super high because he has, surprisingly, been doing a great job with many issues so far. Still failing on a lot, and could do more, but he's accomplished vastly more than most people ever thought he would. Most just figured he'd be a bandaid at best, for simply not being the orange traitor. But he's actually done a ton of great things for America already.
But he's still got his racist past hanging over him. He's still been pathetic about ending the filibuster, or increasing minimum wage, or massively increasing corporate tax and closing all the loopholes that allow the rich to pay no taxes while collecting hundreds of thousands in rebates on taxes they don't pay in the first place. He's dragging his heels on gun control and while he's done a lot to improve the border disaster the last administration left him, he's still not done ENOUGH.
But you cucks never complain about those. The REAL issues. You just make up lies about him having mental issues, or being a puppet, or other insanely stupid conspiracy theories that only the most brainless morons would ever believe for a second.

So, she's trying to claim that white men, who get every advantage in life, and literally get given success in many situations... are somehow being oppressed?
I mean, as a white guy, I don't get pulled over by cops for no reason, I never have to worry about a cop shooting me in the back and claiming they feared for their lives.
I don't have any issues getting a bank loan, even if I don't quite qualify for one, they'll make an exception for me. While my black friend, who's a LAWYER, and has more money than I'll ever earn, gets refused on sight.
I can walk to the front of a line and nobody says a word. But I wouldn't do that because it's rude.
If women are talking, and I start talking, I get the attention, even if the women are making a much better argument. They generally do. :p
So sorry, as a white guy, I have every advantage in life. I will succeed where others can't simply because I'm a white man.

@bbqseitan7106 Yes, way back in the day, "Conservative vs Liberal" WAS NOT about helping citizens or screwing the country to make a buck for the ultra rich. BOTH side used to fight for the betterment of society, improve life for ALL citizens, and yes, even make a profit when possible (as long as it didn't cause harm to the people). But at some point, "Conservatives" (and the current Republican party) stopped being about improving life for all with a slow and steady approach or focusing on economic justice before social justice... and just turned into the party of "destroy the country and human rights to make personal money and power".
A big part of it started when corporations were given a lot more control over politicians. When companies basically paid for people to get into office, rather than people simply running and proving to the people that they were the best for the job. So now, companies run the government, because to get into office, you generally need to have more money than the other guy. It's not ALWAYS like that (as people like AOC or Porter have shown), but for most positions, money is the only way someone is getting in.
Big money needs to be REMOVED from government. All people running for office need to be given a set amount, federally funded, with NO outside donations. Campaign to get votes, not to fund your political war chest. Make it so that politicians have to prove to the people that they're fit for the job. Not just allow them to buy whatever seats they want.

Except that Republicans, in their own committees, have proven several things.
First, Biden DOES NOT have 20 shell companies. Over the years (from way back before he ever held office the first time) he's owned a total of 20 companies (almost all of which closed ages ago).
Second, every single one of those companies was a legitimate business, with absolutely no signs of fraud or illegal activities in any of them.
Third, none of those companies have gotten money from Russia or China. Some were international companies, which did get money from Russian or Chinese CITIZENS (just as they'd gotten money from America, Canadian, British, Australian, Japenese, etc... CITIZENS) because THEY'RE A BUSINESS AND THAT'S HOW BUSINESS WORKS.
Basically Biden is guilty of being an American capitalist. Shocker.
Meanwhile, as you've pointed out, the orange traitor has been PROVEN to have run countless shell companies, illegal charities, illegal institutions (like his university and such) and other ILLEGAL activities.

"Release 1/3 of all prisoners"
See, when someone is falsely arrested, or sent to prison for having a joint, that's called tyranny. It's wrong. Fetterman wants to correct that. Prisons are for criminals, not people who have done nothing wrong.
"Raise taxes"
On the rich? Yes. Just like ALL AMERICANS want, he wants to make the rich pay SOMETHING in taxes, so they have "skin in the game". As opposed to the poor being the only ones paying. Only a millionaire like Mr. Oz would have an issue with that.
"Slow energy production"
No, he wants to shift energy production to renewables, which would provide vastly more for vastly less. You know, like all Americans want.
It will also drastically reduce gas prices as more hybrid and electric vehicles are made available and gas is less in demand.
"Socialized medicine"
Yes, like every developed nation has, except the US. Again, something all Americans want. Free healthcare for all, instead of going bankrupt because you had an accident or got sick. It would save Americans a fortune and drastically improve the health of the nation. And overall would save the people billions in healthcare costs. In Canada, if you have an accident or get sick, it's all covered, you don't pay a cent (and Canadians pay less in taxes because of it).
Bringing up Bernie and AOC, two of the most popular politicians in the country that push policies that all Americans support. Yeah, that's really going to hurt Fetterman.
"Look at this guy, he wants to make your life vastly better, make everything cheaper, save you a fortune, let you have a better education, let you actually save money and retire early. TERRIBLE!!!"

@bearagathelifter5492 Again I think part of what most people overlook is that a male body MIGHT hold more muscle mass. But then there's also tons of women who are far more physically fit than men their age. It's all down to genetics. Some people are just naturally in better shape by default (hold muscle mass with less exercise, etc).
It's like like men are going to transition just to get ahead in a sport. Transitioning is a long and grueling process. Not to mention, even if they did do so just to play in sports, they'd still have to compete against the natural athletes who play already.
And when people mention "oh, but these people are genetically better or gifted, so it's unfair"... okay... so that means players like Michael Jordan, Wayne Gretzky, any MVP really, they should never be allowed to play sports. They are naturally better than other players, and it's simply unfair. Ban them all from the game. Taller basketball players? Nope, ban them because they have a natural advantage over shorter players.
They usually turn around and call that stupid. But it's basically exactly what their argument is. Some people just happen to be better than others. That's life. Nobody is going to through the pain and discrimination to be trans just to win a high school trophy. It's downright idiotic.
And with the examples you cited, that there were some trans athletes outperforming other athletes... it's not been shown that being trans in any way made them "better". They were simply more skilled. Between my friends and I, I am great at darts, while they suck at it. We've all played since we were kids, so it's not a matter of my having more practice. Hell, I've had a lot less than most of them. But I'm naturally good at it. It's simple natural talent. Some people are better at things than others. I can't draw worth a damn, yet I've practiced for years. Meanwhile I know some people who barely pick up a pencil, but can rush out amazing artwork.
This whole argument is honestly just stupid. Even IF there was any actual truth to it, it's still a non-issue. A dozen trans people out of hundreds of thousands of athletes? Honestly? This is nothing but bigotry for the sake of bigotry.
Also, thank you for actually having a conversation about this. It's refreshing to see, without the typical hatred and ignorance that usually crops up.

While Republicans doing such a thing is perfectly believable, I don't think that's the case.
Biden's people were clearing out an office that he worked at while VP. In doing so, they unsealed the documents closet, that's been under lock and key since he was previously in office. While sorting through documents, to see what needs to be filed where, if anything needs to be destroyed, etc... they found some government documents that were mixed in with the other confidential documents that the office handled. Which makes sense, as Biden would have had access at the time, so likely some clerk mixed stuff up.
When they found them, they immediately contacted the National Archives, did a full search to make sure they got everything, and handed it all over.
That's the law. That's policy. That's why Biden did. Which is why this is in absolutely no way an issue. But Republicans will make up whatever lies they have to to try and make it one.

In Canada you can always verify at the polls. It's simply more convenient to register beforehand. Avoids delays at the voting locations if you don't have lots of people having to register all the time. But everyone is eligible by default.
A while back we had a registration effort to make sure every Canadian was registered. I was one of the volunteers going door to door in my area to make sure people were registered. At the time, registration was required to vote. I still remember one house, I got there and the wife was filling out the registration then her husband came down screaming about how the government is trying to steal their info and blah blah blah. Which is hilarious, as we were there with the government info on who they were, where they lived, and all that already. The government already knew everything, we were just basically verifying to make sure they were properly registered. We tried to explain it to him, but he refused to listen.
Well, he told us to leave, and as we were at the end of the driveway, the wife came out and got herself registered.
When voting time came around, I was at the voting station. I saw the couple come in. The wife gave her name and went straight in. The husband gave his, and wasn't registered. So he was told he couldn't vote until he filled out the forms and went through the red tape. His wife basically called him an idiot and reminded him that we did come to their home for exactly that reason, and his idiocy stopped him voting.
I was in tears laughing at the time. :p
These days though, all Canadians are registered to vote by default. It's simply part of your citizenship at this point. Any ID to just show you are you, even if it's something like a library card, is enough to get you in to vote.

Up here in Canada we saw the death of America coming the moment the orange traitor was placed into power by the Electoral College despite losing the popular vote. Which is how all Republicans end up winning. All the more reason the EC needs to be abolished. No group should be able to throw out the will of the people to simply pick and choose a president.
But we watched for 4 years as an open Nazi dismantled America and sold it off to its enemies, looting the treasury, abusing the Constitution and using the DoJ as his personal lawfirm.
And long before the election he made his intent to reject the election result clear. He said he'd accept it if he won but not if he lost. He lied about fraud long before the first vote was ever cast. He constantly pushed doubt in the electoral system and Republicans went right along with it because they saw it as a chance to seize power.
When he lost the most safe and secure election in American history, he wouldn't shut up with his idiotic lies about fraud and such. He pushed the Big Lie constantly, again, aided by traitors in the Republican party. And he openly incited a violent insurrection to try and overturn the election and overthrow the US government. He did all that he could to install himself as dictator, with the full support of the Republican party.
The fact that he wasn't IMMEDIATELY thrown in prison after the insurrection, along with every Republican that openly pushed the Big Lie, proved that America is officially a failed country. Democracy is well and truly dead because there is nobody left fighting for it. Open treason has been welcomed with open arms. The Republicans are constantly pushing voter suppression bills to steal power by any means possible and giving themselves the power to literally throw out the votes of the people and simply declare themselves the winner.
It's disgusting that apparently nobody (except a handful of progressives) actually give a shit about America or democracy. Most of the Democrats are happy to watch the country burn as they steal what few dollars they can before it's all gone. Meanwhile the Republicans will soon have their fascist authoritarian dictatorship. And their voters are too stupid to see what's happening... right up until the collar is locked around their necks and they're walked off to concentration camps.
When America falls, I'm sure any states that refuse to be a part of the New Confederate Nazi Empire will be welcomed into Canada. Hey, at least you folks will finally get free healthcare, like a real country.

@ShaithMaster Yup, US Code 8 - Respect for the Flag
(b)The flag should never touch anything beneath it, such as the ground, the floor, water, or merchandise.
But you see them dragging it along the floor all the time. Running it through puddles and mud. Throwing it around to be dirtied.
(d)The flag should never be used as wearing apparel, bedding, or drapery. It should never be festooned, drawn back, nor up, in folds, but always allowed to fall free. Bunting of blue, white, and red, always arranged with the blue above, the white in the middle, and the red below, should be used for covering a speaker’s desk, draping the front of the platform, and for decoration in general.
Yet the so called "patriots" who "love and respect the flag" love to disgrace it by wearing it as a cape or part of their clothing.
(g)The flag should never have placed upon it, nor on any part of it, nor attached to it any mark, insignia, letter, word, figure, design, picture, or drawing of any nature.
Hmm... I remember there being a flag that the MAGA traitors carried with some orange traitor's face on it. Or their "thin blue line" flag. Or the US flag with a giant Q. All clear signs of disrespect and desecration of the flag by open traitors.
(i)The flag should never be used for advertising purposes in any manner whatsoever. It should not be embroidered on such articles as cushions or handkerchiefs and the like, printed or otherwise impressed on paper napkins or boxes or anything that is designed for temporary use and discard. Advertising signs should not be fastened to a staff or halyard from which the flag is flown.
Tell me, how many Republican ads proudly disrespect the flag by using it for their ads? How many places do you see the flag on plates, or shirts, or napkins... cause I see that CONSTANTLY.
(j)No part of the flag should ever be used as a costume or athletic uniform. However, a flag patch may be affixed to the uniform of military personnel, firemen, policemen, and members of patriotic organizations. The flag represents a living country and is itself considered a living thing. Therefore, the lapel flag pin being a replica, should be worn on the left lapel near the heart.
Again, something these brainless cucks LOVE to abuse.
And finally, the last article in that law...
(k)The flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by *BURNING*.

Yeah, a lot of people don't get how hard she fought to change things. She's no saint, but she's hardly the monster people try to make her out to be.
They talk about how England got into wars while she was Queen. Yes, because while on paper, she's in charge of the military, in practice, she's a figurehead. She's there to back whatever government is in power and be completely neutral in their actions. If one government wants to help a nation, she's supposed to smile and nod, and if the government that takes over wants to bomb them, she's supposed to smile and nod.
But she would always let her opinion be known behind the scenes. And even when she was there being a figurehead, she'd show her will in different ways. If the government was intent on attacking a country, in protest she would wear the colors of that country and a broach symbolizing it. When the idiotic Brexit decision was made, she was wearing the colors of the EU and an EU broach.
She couldn't just come out and say "I disagree" because then that splits the country between the monarchy and the government, which will quickly lead to civil war. So she did what she could.

@alexhigginbotham8635 I think you're completely wrong. If anything Republican "policies" (if you can call gutting the country to give it all to the ultra rich a policy) leads to endless dependency. The destroy the economy, ruin the job market, make people homeless, cause tens of millions of Americans to rely on social security.
Now, are Democrats perfect? Of course not. They're still mostly corrupt corporate stooges who do what their masters order them to. But they at least also improve the country as a whole in the process. Sure, they're far too giving to the ultra rich, but they also give to the poor. They build up the country in order to give the rich a bigger cut of the profits instead of just destroying the country to give the spoils to the rich.
Both are bad, but Democrats are infinitely better for the country and Americans as a whole.
But America desperately needs new parties. The progressive would be AMAZING for the country, but not only do they get constantly attacked and lied about by the Republicans, but by corporate Democrats as well, who don't want progressive reforms which would remove money from politics, which is honestly one of the best things that could ever happen to the country.

@michaelmaskell5363 Well, even the "sense of dynasty" has limits. I mean with many of the ultra rich, their great great great grandchildren will still never need to work a day in their lives and be living in luxury. It's one thing to be wealthy, it's another to just hoard ungodly amounts of money that will not get used. Especially when it's going to be a detriment to future generations of your family.
After all, do you think Trump would have been anywhere as bad if he'd actually had to work a real job and have some responsibility?
There's a guy out there, I think he's called the Patriotic Millionaire or something, that's part of a group of rich people who basically agree that most rich people are destroying the world. They're hoarding money for the sake of hoarding money. They don't do anything with it, they just want their Scrooge McDuck vaults to dive in.
Meanwhile he (and others like him, what few there are) believe in using their wealth to improve the world. They fund aid organizations, research into clean technology, etc.
And he has his will set up so that his children have to work and earn a certain amount of money themselves before they're allowed to get their inheritance. So that way they understand the value of money, and aren't just living a life of excess with no grasp of reality.

Except their numbers are verifiable. Especially the numbers of vaccines they've been giving to the world, because the countries receiving them have all confirmed it.
Stop listening to the "America first" propaganda and realize that America is NOT the shining beacon of glory that you're constantly told it is. There's great things to America. There's also a lot of horrific things (like most politicians). Other countries are organized and efficient. When the people in charge of Wuhan failed to take action, the CCP had them removed and replaced by those who would do the job well. That's how it works in China. They actually listen to the people, and when officials fail, they're quickly replaced. Unlike America where crooked politicians who do nothing but harm their constituents stay in office for decades because of petty politics.
In China, Cruz would have been instantly removed from office and arrested (and likely executed) for fleeing to Cancun when Texas was hit by the storm. He would have been replaced by someone who would immediately work to make sure power was restored, people were cared for, and the power companies brought everything up to regulation and then some (China is also incredibly strict with regulations, so no cheaping out by companies there).
Yes, the government is also extremely restrictive. But at the same time, the government actually makes sure the population is well taken care of. Because a happy population is a productive population.

This literally happens ALL THE TIME.
There are over a million people in the US who have classified access. When these people leave office, they often misplace documents (as they have hundreds of thousands to quickly sort through and pack away).
When someone finds docs, they turn them over. That's it. It never made headlines until a certain orange traitor REFUSED to return the docs he stole. If he had turned them over when asked, NONE of this would be talked about. And he wouldn't be going on trial for it.
Because the crime is NOT simply having the documents. It's WILLFUL RETAINMENT. It's being told to hand them over and NOT DOING SO. If you misplaced them, fine, it happens, hand them in. The second you DON'T you've committed a federal crime.
Biden, Pence, Obama, Cheney, Bush, various generals, department heads, etc... all of them have found documents from their time in office, and have simply turned them over. No fuss, no media storm. Just procedure.
One of the Constitutional experts was talking about how Jimmy Carter had found classified documents in a box of old files sitting in an attic he was clearing out. They where from when he was in office over 20 years ago. He sorted through, made sure anything belonging to the government was found, and turned them all over. And that was that. Nobody in the press said a word, because it was no more important than someone turning in a misplaced library book.
It happens constantly.
The government does NOT track all documents, not even all classified documents. There are hundreds of thousands if not millions of these generated daily. Daily briefings and reports for Pres, VP, department leaders, etc... inter office memos, schedule updates, confirmations, etc... tons of stuff is "classified" even if it's honestly just irrelevant. That's how the bureaucracy works.
Only the very top level secrets get tracked. And that's no guarantee of safety. After all, the orange traitor stole TS-SCI docs. Those are locked up in a vault and have to be signed out and then viewed in a SCIF, and then signed back in. Which means someone in charge of those documents, falsely signed for documents that WERE NOT RETURNED. THOSE people need to be found and prosecuted.

@VincentValentine33 Bravely bold Sir Hawley
Rode forth from Missouri.
He was not afraid to lie,
Oh brave Sir Hawley.
He was not at all afraid
To salute from behind a fence.
Brave, brave, brave, brave Sir Hawley.
"That's, that's enough music for now lads, there's treason to commit."
Brave Sir Hawley ran away.
("No! I'm an Alpha Male!")
Bravely ran away away.
("I didn't!")
When MAGA reared it's ugly head,
He bravely turned his tail and fled.
("I was late for a meeting!")
Yes, brave Sir Hawley turned about
And gallantly he chickened out.
("I need my safe space!")
Swiftly taking to his feet,
He beat a very brave retreat.
Bravest of the brave, Sir Hawley!

Stop getting Rosa Parks' story WRONG.
Colored people being forced to sit on the back of the bus WAS NOT unlawful. It was actually the law, and that was the problem. Racism was legal and that was wrong.
And Rosa DID NOT sit in the white section of the bus. The bus had the first 10 seats for whites only. The last 10 seats were for blacks only. The middle section of seats were "first come, first serve", meaning anyone could sit there, as long as they were empty (in theory). Rosa was sat in seat 11. The first of the "first come" seats. And there were three other colored people in that section of the bus. White folks like to try to present segregation as "separate but equal", that whites and blacks had their own places and were treated evenly within, but that was of course a complete lie.
The white section was mostly empty, and when some white folks got onboard they told Rosa and the others to move because they wanted their seats. They had plenty of place to sit in the white section. But that wasn't what they wanted. They wanted to put the colored people "in their place" and basically told them to follow their betters and do as they're told. The other three moved back, and Rosa refused. She was in a seat LEGALLY available to her. By law she didn't have to move, but at the time it was understood that the law didn't protect black people, so the white folks expected her to jump at their command. She refused, not because she was "tired from working" like so many try to play down her experience, but because she was sick of the racism.
In her own words "I was not tired physically… No, the only tired I was, was tired of giving in."
Two cops showed up after the white people made a fuss and Rosa was arrested. She was released later that evening on bail. She then worked with E.D. Nixon (civil rights leader and union activist) to file a suit as the plaintiff. Something that was unheard of for black people at the time. They also arranged the bus boycott, where the black population of Montgomery boycotted the bus company on the day of Rosa's trial. She was found guilty of violating segregation laws (which she hadn't).
Rosa Parks wasn't just some tired woman. And she DID NOT move into the whites only section. She was sitting in the section that was perfectly legal for her to be sitting in, but refused to move when some racists came up and tried to "put her in her place" even when they had absolutely no need to do so. They had plenty of seats to use, but they wanted HERS because of the color of her skin. They didn't want a black woman to be comfortable or to get fair treatment, despite the law being on her side.
The constant mistelling of the story dishonors what she did, and what she faced. She didn't break the law to make a stand, she made a stand DOING WHAT THE LAW SAID SHE COULD but what white people told her she couldn't despite it.

While "defund the police" is a badly worded slogan... it DOES NOT mean just completely defunding them. But police are MASSIVELY overfunded. To the point where they can spend hundreds of millions on tanks and military grade weapons which they have absolutely no need of (and get no training on how to use).
Police budgets DO need to be slashed. But as a whole, the police need to be reformed. Fire all of them and start from scratch. Hiring through a strict psych evaluation process, making sure racists, bullies, bigots, and abusers are NEVER allowed to sign up. Making sure those who take the oath will actually protect and serve, not just abuse their power to murder indiscriminately. Make sure they all get REAL training, which should be a good year long course at the very least, not a two week brush off.
Remove immunity, so that police can be properly held accountable for their actions. Make any lawsuits and financial penalties come out of a cop's personal wealth, instead of an unlimited slush fund set up by the police. Anything beyond what a cop can pay, THAT gets covered by the department. And departments should be made to report to Congress EVERY TIME they have to pay out for anything. Make them answer for their actions and hold them accountable.
Split funding between police and social workers and programs. Cops should NOT be answering wellness checks or abuse cases. They need specialists who are trained in those matters to deal with those.

Well, before Reagan, that was actually what the rich and corporations were paying.
And during that time, America's economy was constantly growing at an amazing rate... and the rich and corporations surprisingly enough still made a fortune (because people had money to spend on things, which all flowed upwards).
Then that tax rate got slashed in half... and suddenly the economy slammed to a halt, and started struggling every year... and people had less and less money because the social aid programs all dried up, cuts were made across the board to healthcare, education, etc... almost as if losing the government's main tax source (because charging the 1% a higher tax rate makes you vastly more money than charging the other 99% the same rate) somehow crippled the economy.
And it's only gotten worse since then, with more loopholes, cheats, evasions and handouts to the rich, slowly destroying the country.
But hey, who wants to look at history, right?

For my wife and I, our favorite game to go back to constantly is Betrayal at House on the Hill (with the Witch's Walk expansion).
That game is just so much fun and so insanely randomized. Basically running around a creepy mansion in a "Scooby Squad" style group of random characters. You explore new rooms, find items, relics and omens. The house starts off as a small entryway, but as you explore you add rooms to it and new floors and it can become a huge sprawling maze.
And what's great is that eventually the "haunt" will start. Up to that point, you're all just running around exploring, hopefully getting stronger, building a cache of items... but as you draw omen cards, you roll for the haunt, and when you roll under the number of drawn omen cards it starts. There are 50 haunts in the base game and 50 more in the expansion. And the one you get is based on what omen card was drawn in what room when the haunt roll fails and it begins. Some haunts are one person is a traitor and doing some evil plan and the others have to stop them... or run for their lives... some haunts might be everyone working to overcome a challenge or escape the house... a couple are even a free for all where it's every player for themselves... what the haunt is and who the traitor (if there is one) is all random every game, along with the house layout and the items found... that it's always a new experience.

@ROCKLEEAC Yes, America is in great hands with Biden. He's done a ton of amazing things for the country. Created more jobs than ever before, drastically reduced inflation, dropped the deficit by trillions already, brought countless companies back to the US from overseas, improved US trade with other nations, passed the first infrastructure bill in a generation, assigned more federal judges than anyone, etc...
You act as if a GLOBAL issue, that affects EVERY country, due to the pandemic and supply chain crisis is somehow Biden's fault. Which I get, because Republicans think you're an idiot and keep telling you that, expecting you to blindly believe them like a slave.
Biden's lowered prices across the board. Without him you'd be paying about triple what you're paying now.

@nedsantos1415 A company that would give people less than 32 hours to make them not full time would already be doing that to people in a 40 hour week. So it's not like that changes anything.
Plus, as a 32 hour week is vastly more productive, more profitable for companies and saves companies a ton on benefits and time, there's even less reason for them to try to screw workers out of hours as they have with a 40 hour week.
But I do think the minimum wage needs to be increased. As it stands it should be somewhere around $23/h (with a 40h week) to match inflation and cost of living increases to be balanced today.
Yes, the law literally stipulates that all workers will make the same amount in a 32 hour week as they did in 40. That's literally part of the whole idea behind this. Same pay, less hours, vastly more productivity, improved health, less illness and downtime and vacation time needed.
As said there are ALREADY companies that have adopted this. They've been doing tests on this for a while now in the US, UK, Japan, Netherlands, New Zealand and other countries. And almost every company that's been a part of the test has adopted the new system entirely now. So their people have gone from 40 to 32 hours, with no change in total pay (making more per hour). All the companies have shown huge productivity increases (some showing people got almost double the work done in 32 hours that they did in 40), much happier employees, fewer sick days used, less personal days taken, etc... This has been a massive win for everyone.

@eddiejohnson429 No, there is no "far left" in America. The Democrats are a centrist party, some are center-left. It's just that Republicans have gone so insanely far right they're off the scale into full fascism. Which I suppose, if you like Nazis, you could be in favor of. But Americans enjoy democracy and rights and freedoms, so they stand against Republican traitors.
Also no, nobody gets banned for misgendering people on Twitter. You DO get banned for not supporting debunked Republican talking points. People who point out how the election WASN'T stolen, because there's absolutely no evidence of any kind of support that idiotic lie, WILL get banned for "inciting discord" and other idiotic excuses.
And again, you're lying. No, the algorithms DO NOT promote left wing content. Not only have they been PROVEN to push right wing content, but Twitter has literally stated that themselves.
Why would you make such an idiotic and already 100% debunked lie is beyond me. Just makes you look like an idiot.

It's not about the toys, it's about the marketing.
Most stores you'll find all the "boy" toys (action figures, GI Joe stuff, Jurassic Park, Batman, Marvel, etc) in one section (often with blue signage) and all the "girl" toys (Barbies, Bratz, MLP, stuffed things, etc) in another section (usually covered in pink).

Honestly at this point I'm more interested in the actual science.
Cooking breaks down SOME DNA. But not all. Same for processing. It takes extreme measures to completely break down DNA so that it's completely undetectable. And those measures would likely make the "food" quite unhealthy.
That said, you also need a large enough sample size to be able to properly analyze DNA, as you're essentially testing and finding portions of DNA strands and need enough to verify the source.
But I'm curious as to how big a sample they tested. If they did it on say, a scoop worth, which would be in a sandwich... that might work. If they just took a little dollop and tested it, it's likely there's not enough intact strands floating around in that for a proper test.
I've seen studies on how cooking and preparing food can alter DNA. Regular cooking, as one would do at home making dinner, will damage some DNA strands, but most would be intact. Processing can affect the DNA based on the methods used, such as what chemicals were involved, heating, freezing, dehydration, etc.
Part of the problem with excess processing is it literally removes the nutritional value from the food. So stuff that's over-processed is often useless nutritionally.
Then there's the chemical process used in making some things. Such as margarine being a molecule off from being plastic. It's horrific for you and should never be used. But the process allows massive quantities to be mass produced, making it far more affordable than butter.
Food science is awesome.

In Canada, along with training and licensing, you go through THOROUGH background checks, where they look at any police or juvie history, any reports against you, mental health evaluation, all your social media, as well as contacting a dozen random people who know you (friends, family, co-workers) to get an idea from them how safe they'd feel knowing you had a gun. If you pass all that, you still have to wait a MONTH before you get gun.
You can get any weapon you want in Canada. You just have to prove you're trustworthy enough to own it.

@joshuacoleman8000 The GOP are the anti everyone who's not a rich white guy party. Black people, Indian people, Native people, Jews, Muslims, women, Mexicans, gay people, trans people, anyone who's not a fascist... Republicans hate all of them.
If Republicans had their way they would HAPPILY genocide anyone who's not white and rich. Hell, they've already started.

@beanabovethefrank1499 The whole incel thing was literally coined by these people themselves. Who have rallied behind the term as a way of excusing their open misogyny and hatred of women, and general bigotry. They claim that being an incel has forced them to do X, Y, Z terrible things.
So, while technically yes, someone can be "involuntarily celibate" due to various specific circumstances... the "incels" are not that. They are simply horrific, hateful people, who ensure that nobody would ever want to have anything to do with them, pretending to be the victims (as right wingers always do).
And while I'm sure there are some who don't get that being a misogynist is the problem, most of them are openly reveling in it and using it as an excuse to be filth.
And it's not just them. You have things like that "Right Stuff" dating site that was designed just for "conservatives" (in truth, right wing extremists). The site was all about right wingers finding love, while promoting the idea that women should be property and need a strong man to control them and tell them how to live their lives. Yeah, I wonder why the site had no women sign up to use it?

See, I think this is kind of a tricky thing to have done right though.
Yes, companies should never discriminate against any race/gender/religion/ethnicity/etc... They should always simply hire the best person for the job. But at the same time, I don't know if forcing them to hire a black person for a job is the best way to go about it. Yes, black people should have every opportunity that white people do. But if someone is being hired by a company as the "token black person"... is that really fighting racism? Or just giving a company a way of claiming that they don't have racist policies? "I'm not racist, I have a black friend."
If a black person is better qualified for a job, they most definitely should be getting that job. They shouldn't be pushed aside because they're black. But at the same time, if a white person is truly better qualified, shouldn't they get hired? I can see if two people are equally qualified, one being white, one being black, choosing the black person to push diversity in your company makes sense. But hiring a black person just to have a black person on the payroll doesn't seem quite like a "fix" and more like they're just putting on a show.
But then I guess it comes down to how do you prove someone is being hired as a token minority over their simply being the best qualified for the job. Unless you have an outside, unbiased party, overlooking the hiring process... it's not really something you can verify.
How do you make sure something is REAL equality, and not just pandering?
I get wanting to have more black people in positions of power, because they've been held back... well, forever. But how much power do they truly get in these situations?
I worked for a bank in the past, and at the corporate level in my location, there was some 20+ white men and women in top positions. And one black man. That one man, as far as anyone could tell, didn't really have a real "job". They had a fancy title (chief executive of internal something, lots of words, little meaning). But other than being sat in his office most of the time, he never really took part in anything the rest of the management did. He was never at conferences or meetings. He didn't seem to be in charge of any department. Whenever we talked to him about his job, he was always very vague, and could never really tell anyone what he did. It honestly just seemed like he was there to be the token black man so the bank could say "Look, we hire black people for top positions too". Because when you went down to processing, where all the data entry and such was going on, tons of black people there, slaving away for minimum wage. But apart from one guy, you didn't see anyone like that further up the chain of command.
So I kind of worry that simply pushing for hiring more black people without ensuring that they're getting equal jobs, responsibility and power might be hurting the fight for equality more than helping it.

Agreed. People (typically white people) keep getting Rosa's story completely wrong. And keep disrespecting what she actually went through and the reasons behind it all. I posted this elsewhere:

Well, mostly. Depends on the cooking and processing... er... process.
A normal cooking, if say you're cooking dinner at home, will damage some DNA molecules, but most will be intact and can easily be detected by testing.
Extreme processes like freeze drying cooked food can further degrade the DNA. And there are various processing methods (using chemicals) that will destroy DNA.
But to completely destroy all traces of the DNA would take some serious effort.
Most likely their testing failed due to sample size. With just a scoopfull, it might not be enough. But if they could get a large enough batch, there would be enough tuna DNA fragments, even if distorted by what it's gone through, to detect the tuna DNA itself.
Especially if Subway wants to claim their tuna is "fresh", which honestly, most of their food is not. Much of it is processed and preserved in various fashions. The freshest ingredient at Subway would likely be the bread itself.

@landonletterman831 Well, the flip actually started in the 1870's, and took about 50 years before the parties ended up where they are today. With Democrats being liberals, in favor of equal rights, freedoms, small government, strong economy... and Republicans being pro-slavery, focused on hate, racism, sexism, bigotry, government overreach and crippling the economy to give handouts to the ultra rich.

Exactly. I always find it hilarious that people will scream about tracking chips in vaccines, when it's in no way a thing. Yet even the most advance tracker wouldn't be able to give big tech a thousandth of the information that you provide them every day simply by having a cellphone. They know your location, personal info, banking data, contacts, hobbies, what sites you like to visit, what apps you use, how long you spend on various sites, eating habits, etc...
Everything anyone could ever want, people are giving them WILLINGLY every day.

@coreybrickey6769 Yeah, a real president serves the people, not the parties. They push for policies that the American people want, not either side.
Almost all Americans (Republicans included) want COVID relief, better wages, better infrastructure, voting reform like HR1 provides, lower taxes for the poor and middle class and higher taxes for the rich (much higher), closing all the tax loopholes, police reform, sensible gun control and licensing, etc.
So that's what he needs to be pushing. Naturally, that's all stuff progressives actually want, because that's all stuff that's good for the country as a whole. Some Democrats are on board, and of course no Republicans are, because Reps are 100% against ANYTHING that could help the country and doesn't just put trillions into the pockets of the rich.

@davidfiler5414 I'm not talking about Democrat VOTERS. I'm talking about the feckless POLITICIANS who will sit in office, with all the power in the world to do something, but will instead just sit on their hands claiming "there's nothing we could do".
Like how right after the insurrection, Democrats could have EASILY called for the ousting of each and every Republican that helped incite it by spreading the Big Lie. They easily could have had most of those traitors booted from office for their treason.
But they didn't.
Like how Garland, who could have been assigning special prosecutors since day one to charge the traitors for helping incite the insurrection, for spreading lies about election fraud, for committing fraud and voter suppression themselves... has instead been sitting on his hands refusing to take action. Even when the National Archives came to him with irrefutable proof that the orange traitor stole classified documents (something that he could be instantly charged and convicted for) Garland instead told them to go back and "look into again".
DEMOCRATS NEVER TAKE ACTION. They can. They have everything they need to do so and win, but they refuse to act. You might have a handful like the Progressives pushing for action, but most CORPORATE Democrats, especially the two Republicans Manchin and Sinema, will NEVER allow anything to actually happen.

Android is a great board game if you've not played it. It's in the same universe as the Netrunner deckbuilding game.
It's a giant murder mystery game essentially, set in a sci-fi future with androids and psychics and a moon base... really neat setting.
Each player plays as an investigator. There's a corrupt ex cop, a mercenary, a psychic corporate operative, a private eye and an android. Each character has two decks. One of good cards that they play to help themselves and gain advantages, and another deck that OTHER players choose from to hinder you (though with proper tactics you can actually make them work in your favor). Basically your cards are "light" cards while the negative cards are "dark". And you have a slider that tracks how light or dark you currently are. You have to be able to spend the cost of the card to play it, which means if you want to play more dark cards on other players, you'll have to play more light cards yourself. So you're always going to be balancing doing good and evil stuff. All while each player is travelling around the map investigating clues and gathering evidence.
The twist is, it's not like say Clue where you're trying to find who did it. In Android, when you start you shuffles the guilty and innocent cards of all the potential suspects, and each player draws one of each. This is the person you want to MAKE guilty or innocent. So you're actually going around trying to plant incriminating evidence on the one you want guilty, while planting exonerating evidence on the one you want innocent. As you explore the map and find evidence, you get tokens randomly drawn that either show guilt or innocence (as well as neutral ones), and you place those on the suspect you want (face down). So you can be placing good or bad evidence on any of the suspects, and you want to make sure you're not giving away the game on who you're focused on, as other players are also planting evidence (so if they figure out you want someone guilty, they can place a bunch of exonerating evidence on that suspect to mess you up).
Meanwhile, there's also an overarching story going on with the case (drawn randomly when you start the game) that shifts stuff around the board. Adds new contacts and snitches, and sometimes kills off people. All of which can lead to a great deal of chaos and fun. Each character also has a personal storyline that plays out (chosen randomly at the start again). As you play and make choices, you get good and bad baggage for your story. If you get enough of one or the other, as game days advance, so does your story and the path it takes, which can lead to huge gains or big penalties.
It's an awesome game that's epic to play with a full group just because of all the evidence going around and everyone trying to screw everyone else. There's so many little interconnected parts, from the evidence, to your personal story, to who's cards you're picking to try and mess with and who's messing with you... it's just so much fun. Can't get enough of it.

@jessicaandersson4313 Sorry, I was going off the last article I'd read on it. I knew they gave out more, but didn't realize they'd given out that many.
Gotta say, China's doing amazing at this. Sure, it's all for selfish reasons. They're not helping other countries out of the goodness of their hearts. They're doing it to secure trade deals and deny other countries access to resources. They're making allies who will allow military installations in their countries. They're ensuring global dominance.
Meanwhile what does America do? Uh, we'll form a committee to examine the possibility of maybe helping out other countries at some point and if our corporate masters will let us.
Why does China win? Because in China the Republican party would have all been executed for getting in the way of the government functioning. They don't have one party making half hearted promises and then giving up on them because the other party says no. If the Dems had a backbone, they would have beaten Manchin and the others into line, removed the filibuster, gotten infrastructure passed, gotten the voting protection laws passed, gotten EVERYTHING passed and would have guaranteed Democrat political domination from coast to coast for generations. But instead, the Republicans say no, and the Dems just give up. Meanwhile when the Republicans have control, while they never pass anything that could even remotely help the country, what they DO want to pass, they will force through. And if the Democrats say no, the Republicans will simply push it through regardless. As evil and anti-American as Republicans are, at least they get their crap done.
