That's fine. I mean, technically, it's not, but that's not YOUR fault. It's not like they focus on it in history class as they should. If you are black or have black friends (close friends who can open up about their struggle, not just some person you hang out with now and then), then you'd know about it. Even if you don't fully understand its relevance.
I'm white (technically Middle Eastern, but I'm white presenting). My black friends had told me about Juneteenth, and I understood that it was important to them. But not being black myself, the real significance of it is hard to truly grasp. I mean, I support BLM and rights and equality for all, always have. But while I can sympathize with the strife black people (and other minorities) face, not having directly suffered the same myself means I can't ever truly understand what they feel. But I know injustice when I see it and will stand against it.

So... they took 18 months to study a problem scientists have had the answer to for years now... yeah... that's already off to a great start.
They have goals they want to work towards in the next 10-20 years... even though massive action needs to be taken RIGHT NOW.
Other countries have already made huge strides in this regard. We have a country like Germany that switched to wind power as their focus, who make so much energy that people actually get credits from the government for using up the excess. Along with the government making money sending their energy to nearby countries.
Something the US could EASILY do with the vast amounts of usable land (NOT natural, untouched land, but the mined out destroyed lands that are now just sitting empty)... but they refuse. Because as always, the only people with any power in the US are the ultra rich. Big oil doesn't want America switching to clean energy, so they put a stop to it. Sure, the CEO's of these huge companies will die alongside everyone else... but they don't care because they'll die rich, and to them that's all that matters.
I'm in Canada, and we're just as bad up here. Tons of very easy, cost-effective solutions, but nothing ever gets done.
It's nice that the Dems have a new proposal... but just like all the others it will be buried and forgotten.

It's not "I want to work", it's "I want to work a nice safe cushy job while everyone else is dying". There's a big difference.
Like he said, if you really want to work, then get an essential job placement. Hospitals around me are hiring anyone who's willing to work. I know people who have gotten jobs at the local hospital pushing beds, emptying garbage, cleaning floors. Stores and restaurants around my area have got tons of new workers. The GOOD place have brought back the people who were working for them before, but many (mostly the big chains and such) are hiring anyone who's willing to work because they need people to be on the front lines risking their lives.
My wife works for PetSmart (which was only doing online orders until recently). She was let go (along with the rest of the store staff) and just brought back onto the payroll now to start reopening the stores. Some people who were working aren't willing to be frontline workers, and that's their choice. It's perfectly understandable not to want to risk your life. Especially as the stores are being flooded with idiots who are gathering there for the sake of "doing something", most never wearing a mask. I'm terrified that she's going to get sick from one of these idiots who have the virus and doesn't know it yet. People going to stores just to hang out.
But there is work out there. Yes, a massive amount of people have lost their jobs, and many won't be getting them back. But at the same time there IS work out there to be had. It's simply work that most of these anti-lockdown idiots don't want to do themselves.

"I voted Republican, but not for Trump."
Sorry, that is NOT how America works. If you vote for a party, you are voting for whoever they have chosen to be their leader. If you didn't want to vote for Trump, you should have not voted, or voted Democrat to not let him win.
Plus the fact that Trump is basically just the embodiment of all of the corruption and evil that the Republican party stands for. Racism, sexism, homophobia, bigotry, suppression of minorities, suppression of the lower class, suppression of voting, suppression of science. And all in the name of the all mighty dollar. Happily destroying the country to make a buck for a handful of rich folk who have no ties to the country. They only care about the money. You think that when America is destroyed (moreso than it's already been), that people like Zuckerberg or Bezos will stay to try and rebuild the country? Or will they just take their trillions and head off to whatever other country they figure they can sucker out of all the taxpayer's money?
I see people claiming they vote Republican because they want better healthcare. Except, destroying healthcare and making it accessible only to the rich is one of their key fights.
Or people claiming that Republicans will help "workers", even though they constantly fight to cut rights and services to the working class.
Or that they'll support education, when they defund schools, massively hike costs and loans, and basically try to keep "low class" people from proper education.
The Republicans DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOU. Unless you're a billionaire, you're just trash to squeezed for what few cents they can get out of you.
