  1. As bad and disappointing as Fetterman is, Oz would have been vastly worse. Fetterman has some bad positions in various issues, but unlike Oz or any Republican, Fetterman still supports democracy and the rule of law. He won't push lies about election fraud, or support fake impeachments, or call insurrectionists political prisoners.

  2. Some people have said that it could be due to his stroke. It's not uncommon for people to have personality changes after suffering a stroke. There's some good people who after a stroke end up being intolerant and short tempered. Or people who were bigots suddenly being far more tolerant and accepting after their stroke. It does affect the brain in various ways.
