Remember that the IDF murdered two other hostages (and several civilians) in a church. Two women who were among the hostages were hiding out at a church. Hamas allowed them to stay there as long as they didn't try to escape. The IDF broke into the church and shot up the place, murdering the two women and several other church goers. Claiming that they were going in to get Hamas terrorists despite none being present.

Remember that the hostages Hamas has released so far all talked about how well they were treated. Given warm beds, food and water (more than the actual citizens of Gaza get) and all that. In comparison the prisoners Israel has released were beaten and tortured and crippled. Makes sense that Israel doesn't want more hostages released.

@sebastianlavallee706 Exactly. They knew that their attack would (as always) lead to a massive over reaction by Netanyahu. And Israel's war crimes has drastically increased Hamas recruitment as countless people around the world are turning against Israel for their slaughter of innocent civilians. And yes, the hostages were still hostages. They're still prisoners who fear for their lives. But unlike the prisoners Israel took, Hamas treated them well. They simply weren't allowed to go anywhere. But they weren't beaten or abused. They were made comfortable. And that further helped make Israel out to be the villain.
