Proper police procedure in this situation: 1) Approach the suspect and talk to them calmly, and try to convince them to come with you. 2) If they refuse, continue to talk and try to de-escalate the situation. 3) If they try to flee, you order them to stop. 4) If they continue, you physically restrain them with the MINIMUM amount of force required. 5) If they're armed, you disarm them safely. In extreme conditions you can taser them to subdue them. A gun is NEVER required unless a suspect is ACTIVELY FIRING A GUN THEMSELVES.

"He threatened to throw his knife at us!" And? So you walk up and disarm him. Or you get ready for him to throw it, avoid it, and then cuff him. At the extreme, you use a taser.

@stoodmuffinpersonal3144 I agree. Cops were not needed. But I'm just saying if cops DO respond, then they should follow the actual procedures. Not their shoot first, ask questions never habits.

@mrg0th1er83 I mean, true. But if a cop DOES respond to such a situation, they have proper procedures to follow. They simply never do.

@theinvisiblewoman5709 Yup. Because that's literally part of police training. Being able to disarm someone WITHOUT hurting them, while keeping everyone safe. If you can't do that, you shouldn't be a cop.

@doomfrom9077 He didn't have a firearm. He had a knife. They EASILY could have talked him down. Instead they rushed him guns drawn without cause. They could have just grabbed the knife. But instead they decided to murder him. We have the full story. The cops came up, saw an easy target, and murdered him needlessly. In a situation where their guns NEVER should have been drawn. At the absolute most, they could have used a taser to stun him and move the knife away. But they just wanted to shoot someone.
