  3. Republicans love to claim it's a mental health issue, while actively fighting to DEFUND all mental health care in the country. As well as REFUSING to allow any regulations that would make it harder for people with mental health issues to buy guns.

  4. Republicans LOVE to try and confuse the fact by claiming that blue states, that have VASTLY HIGHER POPULATIONS have more TOTAL gun deaths. Which is a given. What matters is the DEATHS PER CAPITA. How many people die per 100K people (or however the particular study is counting it). Which always shows that red states have VASTLY higher per capita rates than blue states. When you have 10 deaths per 100K people in a blue state with 10 MILLION people... you're going to have a higher TOTAL number of deaths than a red state with 50 deaths per 100K that only has 1 million total population. Simply because there's more people in the state. So while the crimes happen less often per population, due to the massive size difference in population, even a lower crime rate shows as more total crime occurrences.
