US Flag Laws: Respect for the Flag
(d)The flag should never be used as wearing apparel, bedding, or drapery.
But these "patriots" love using the flag as clothing.
(g)The flag should never have placed upon it, nor on any part of it, nor attached to it any mark, insignia, letter, word, figure, design, picture, or drawing of any nature.
Again, these "patriots" love putting various pictures and other things over the flag, in direct violation of that section.
(i)The flag should never be used for advertising purposes in any manner whatsoever. It should not be embroidered on such articles as cushions or handkerchiefs and the like, printed or otherwise impressed on paper napkins or boxes or anything that is designed for temporary use and discard. Advertising signs should not be fastened to a staff or halyard from which the flag is flown.
Hmm... I'm sure they've NEVER used the flag in any sort of ads, right? They've NEVER used it to push their rhetoric, right?
(j)No part of the flag should ever be used as a costume or athletic uniform.
Yeah... nuff said.

I'm in Canada.
When my dad had a heart attack, he was rushed to the hospital, given a bypass and kept there to heal, and then doing physiotherapy for a year... all covered. We didn't have to pay anything other than parking when we went in to visit him (though my mom often stayed at the hospital as they let her have a room there to be with him).
When my dad took a tumble a couple of years back and got cut up, we took him to the emergency room, where he was immediately admitted, they did a full checkup including all the blood tests and x-rays and such, made sure he was stitched up, taken care of, got medication, etc... again, not a penny out of pocket.
But according to Republicans, Americans don't want such service. They'd rather go bankrupt so they can have a surgery... eventually, when a doctor is available in a few years... or simply die at home to save money.

This was a massive win for the US... and Republicans are trying to turn it into a loss, and are making everything worse, as always.
First off, a double gold medal winning, patriotic American athlete and celebrity is being brought home after her being falsely imprisoned on trumped up charges (being arrested on possession for a prescription she's entered Russia with countless times before). That's huge.
In exchange, Russia gets a washed up ex-arms dealer. A man who is completely out of touch with the systems that made him valuable in the past, because he's been out of the game for many years (first being on the run and then being in a US prison). He had already served most of his sentence in the US, and was going to be released before Griner was anyway. The US was already looking to trade him to Russia because they had no more use for him.
They've interrogated (and tortured) him for years, getting every usable bit of intel out of him. All of his wealth and assets have been seized. His entire network has been dismantled. Countless of his contacts have been arrested by the US and countries around the world thanks to the info he's given up. He has nothing, and has been out of the game for ages.
On top of that, his infamy means he's going to be constantly tracked by intelligence agencies around the world. He has to live out the rest of his life in hiding, because if he ever leaves Russia, he'll be instantly snatched up by one agency or another. And even IN Russia, leaving his safe house risks being grabbed. So he gets to live out the rest of his life in terror, always looking over his shoulder for someone coming to get him.
And sure, Putin might want to bring him into his circle to use his out of date talents to try and get Russia more weapons. Of course now Bout has nothing to work with, except Russia's crumbling military, which is less than he had as an arms dealer. And because every agency is watching him... who's he going to do business with? How many drug dealers do you think would want to do business with a supplier that they know is under 24/7 police surveillance and will guarantee they're going to prison if they contact them?
He's less than useless at this point. So it was an incredible deal for the US.
And to those who say that Bout is way more valuable because of his crimes... why? So, you think his arms deals are worse than those the US literally take part in?
And you think having him in a US prison for a couple more years before he is released anyway is going to change anything? It's not going to reform him. And all it's doing is costing the US a fortune to keep him imprisoned. What does the US get out of holding onto him that's more valuable than bringing home an American citizen that was falsely imprisoned?
Meanwhile, you have the right wing suddenly up in arms about Paul Whelan, the disgraced ex-Marine that was dishonorably discharged due to larceny and several other crimes, who was caught in Russia in possession of a flash drive containing classified documents. So he's in a cell due to espionage charges, not just some fake charge like Griner was. 99.9% of those on the right never had any clue who Whelan was, until they were told to be pissed off about the criminal white man being left behind while the celebrity black woman was brought home.
Even the orange traitor started spouting lies and nonsense about how he would have brought Whelan home. Funny, because Whelan was in Russian prison in 2018... when the orange traitor was in charge... and had Bout in US custody... and was supposedly bosom buddies with Putin... so why did he never lift a finger to try and get that deal made? Other than him being Putin's little orange bitch?
Because to Russia, Whelan, who's under arrest for espionage, is a VASTLY more important prisoner. So a useless lump like Bout would never be worth the trade to them.
But, thanks the right wing now making Whelan into a martyr for them, and plastering his name everywhere... well, Russia is now looking at him being super important to the US. Which means Whelan's exchange has now been made all but impossible. The US is going to have to grovel on it's knees and hand over the most important prisoners they have at this point. The right wing has basically guaranteed Whelan's stay in Russia has been greatly extended.
Because if there's one thing the right wing is good at, it's ruining the lives of Americans.
Also, the best thing the US could do to get Whelan home, is to have US intelligence go out and capture a Russian agent in the US. Problem is, they're pretty tied up with waves of white supremacist domestic terrorism, and constantly dealing with the espionage crimes of a certain orange traitor... like digging up classified documents stored at golf courses and in random storage units.

Oh no, how terrible. Anti-abortion people have NEVER done anything like that though, right?
They've never fire bombed abortion clinics, right? Oh, they have, thousands of times.
But they've never vandalized such places, right? Oh, they do it constantly.
But they've never attacked doctors and clinicians and tried to kill them though, obviously? Oh, they've been arrested hundreds of times for doing so.
But they wouldn't attack women just for attending clinics and such? Oh, they've actually murdered women who were just getting information about abortions.
Hmm... maybe they can shut the fuck up then.

"The economy was great."
Actually it was the worst economy since the Great Depression. He devastated incomes, drove inflation through the roof, crippled the economy with his trade war with China, etc...
Thankfully Biden's policies have drastically reduced inflation, strengthened the dollar, increased wages, protected unions, and made the US economy strong again, with the highest GDP growth of the G7.
"Unemployment was low."
Actually it was high. He is only the second president to leave office with FEWER jobs than when he took office.
CURRENTLY the unemployment rate is at a record low, thanks to Biden.
"These are tough questions."
No, they're really not. You're just a brainless idiot repeated what you KNOW are lies.

Making this an either/or question is idiotic.
Democrats provide a stronger democracy AND a vastly superior economy. Every time.
Republicans are 100% anti-American. They are openly embracing fascism and fighting to end democracy. While Democrats defend democracy and the Constitution.
Meanwhile Democrats always deliver lower taxes, better wages, more worker protection and unions, better stock market, cheaper prices, better education, less crime, more rights and freedoms, less hate, etc...
You want to see the type of economy a fascist Republican dictatorship gives you? Look at Russia.
It's a fascist dictatorship that's corrupt from top to bottom. The reason they're doing so badly in Ukraine is because of that corruption.
The military department in charge of espionage was pocketing money it was supposed to spend on hiring foreign agents and dissidents in Ukraine, all while telling Putin that they had a great spy network and their spies said Ukraine would surrender immediately to join Russia. That was a lie, because they had no agents, no intel. And Putin acted on those lies.
Then the troops go in... and get demolished. Because the troops are horribly trained, because those responsible for doing so, were pocketing the money instead of paying for training. Their gear was garbage, because those responsible for buying and maintaining gear, was pocketing that money. So their tanks and guns were old, not maintained, lacking ammo and supplies.
That is the type of economy Republicans fight for. Where the rich have no oversight, control the government, and basically put taxpayer dollars right in their pocket, while letting the country crumble around them. Because the oligarchs like Musk and Bezos and such, when the country finally does collapse in on itself... will take their ill gotten gains and simply go to another country to start it all over again. Meanwhile the American people will die in the millions as all infrastructure collapses, utilities cease, hospitals close, no food is brought in to be put on shelves, etc...

@anthonyrussell9065 So, most of what you said was complete crap... but let's just clarify a bit for those who actually enjoy a bit of reality and truth.
First, the orange traitor NEVER put America first. He put himself first, constantly abusing his power to enrich himself. He also put all of America's enemies second. Always getting on his knees to worship Putin. Giving China insanely one sided trade deals that gave them complete dominance over America in production, manufacturing and farming, and sending hundreds of thousands of jobs to China. Not to mention his illegal business deals with the Chinese government funneling money into his previously secret Chinese bank account. As well as the orange cuck having all his MAGA garbage made in China. Yeah, real "America first".
He also caused the worst jobs loss in recent history. Biden on the other hand has already shown his jobs plans, especially with green energy, which is opening up millions of news jobs across America. Well paying union jobs. What America is desperately in need of. As well as Biden's reworking of trade with China in order to bring countless factories back to America.
The XL Pipeline was a disaster before it even got finished. Countless people in the US and Canada were protesting it. It was an environmental and economical disaster. Closing it down cost about 1300 temporary jobs. Which is why the green energy plans are so beneficial.
The GERMAN pipeline was approved because the German people need it. Yes, it runs through Russia, but without it Germany would face a critical oil crisis.
Kind of like the shortage America is facing because the tangerine traitor shut down about 60% of America's oil refineries, which has led to a big increase in gas prices. But yeah, keep singing the cuck's praises. It's also not putting any American money in foreign governments, though America already has money set aside for foreign relations and trade deals, AND ALWAYS HAD. Even if Biden wasn't president, that money would be going to other nations.
Biden is actually putting America first, unlike the last guy. He's focusing on rebuilding America's job market and infrastructure. On fixing the anti-American trade deals the last guy set up. On repairing the damage to foreign relations with all of America's allies that the last guy ruined while constantly surrendering to all of America's enemies. Biden actually stood up to Putin. Something the last guy NEVER did. He just dropped to his knees and opened wide for him. He even lied to cover up Putin having American soldiers murdered. America first my ass. Fucking orange traitor needs to rot in a deep, dark hole for the rest of his miserable existence.

This kind of behavior disgusts me. It shows how ignorant and anti-social people are.
In most situations, it's not the worker's fault. And even when it is, it costs you nothing to be polite about it, which will resolve the situation much faster.
I've been to a car rental place, who messed up my reservation. Got there and they didn't have any cars available. I verified the info I gave them, and they admitted the error was on their part. I was calm, asked for alternatives, and they started calling other nearby rental agencies, and was able to find a car similar to what I'd reserved at another. They not only gave me a lift over there, but they covered the first three days of the rental as an apology.
I'll have an order error when I'm out getting food. I don't scream at the server (who isn't the one who made the food) or throw stuff. I just politely point out the mistake and ask if I can have it corrected. They will generally take care of that straight away. And often times will leave the "wrong" order with me, so I'm getting extra food, or take it back and give me the correct item and make it free.
People who start screaming or trying to intimidate workers are scum. You're NOT better than they are just because they're in the service industry. In fact, you've proven that they are vastly better people than you can ever be.

So, a random citizen, who is of zero importance, doing things in his own time that don't hurt anyone... is somehow worse than a fascist, racist, sexist, anti-Semitic, lying, criminal traitor that brought America to it's worst point in history, destroyed the economy, ruined the job market, betrayed the US endlessly to Russia, murdered over 500,000 Americans with lies about a pandemic, openly incited an insurrection to try and overturn a free and fair election, and is unquestionably one of the stupidest people on the planet?
Yeah, no. You're just supporting literal traitors.

I think this was a case of Musk being too stupid to think things through beforehand.
He was planning on ending MOST moderation on Twitter. So that it would be a have for hatred, racism, sexism, anti-Semitism, etc (moreso than it ALREADY is). While still banning anyone who had anything negative to say about him or his companies or the racist work environment he enforces, as well as anyone daring to speak about unions.
The thing is, his lawyers made it clear to him that doing so would basically end Twitter. Because 99.9% of advertisers would pull out of Twitter without basic moderation (because companies lose business when tied to racist platforms). In addition to that, many countries actually have laws AGAINST hate speech and racism and such, and if he allowed it on Twitter, then the platform would be BANNED in those countries. So it would drastically reduce Twitter's use base.
It's that more than anything, basically being told that if he did what he was planning, he would essentially be pissing away his money, that made him change his mind. Because he doesn't care about owning Twitter. He just wants to be able to use his wealth to flex on others. If he can't push hate and racism, then he doesn't care.

Eh... honestly, I think Kitt COULD have been the best Catwoman, if they would have let her use the romance angle with Batman. But at the time they refused to allow Batman to be romantically involved with a black woman. So she had to play up being the straight villain. I think Newmar's love angle with Catwoman made hers more enjoyable. Though Kitt was the strongest of them, the only one not to let herself be a damsel in distress that needed a big strong man to keep helping her.
My response to another poster about the original Catowman actresses:
Julie Newmar was the original (and in my opinion best) actress to play Catwoman.
She really played up the "femme fatale" aspect. Being a villainess who had a very flirtatious relationship with Batman, always trying to temp him. Sometimes being more of an anti-hero than a villain, sometimes straight up helping Batman. She definitely laid the groundwork for the more modern takes on the lover/enemy characterization that they've used in recent years.
Lee Meriwether was the second actress to take the role when Newmar had to take time off due to a back injury.
She was decent, made the role into more of a straight villain. A woman playing up her wiles, while still being pure criminal. Not really caring for Batman as the Newmar version did, but just taking advantage of his attraction to her. She only lasted for the movie and a few episodes before Newmar came back to take over the role.
Eartha Kitt was the third Catwoman, coming in for the third season of the show.
She took Meriwether's version of Catwoman and turned it up to 11. She was a villain through and through, again playing up her feminine wiles to take advantage of men. But unlike the other two, she never allowed herself to be the "damsel in distress", unless it was part of a ploy. The other two had a few times when they were basically helpless and needed the big strong Bat to come save them. Kitt's Catwoman never let herself be in that position. She would always find a way out of any situation herself, without needing a man to come save her.
At the time though, she also WAS NOT allowed to play up the "romance" side of things, because the studio refused to let Batman be romantic with a black woman. A side aspect of the times. If she was given that chance though, I think she EASILY could have been the best of the three actresses for the original Catwoman.

@twain3074 Now, if only the US could do the same.
Like bringing back the Fairness Doctrine, updated for modern media. Make it a federal crime to outright LIE in any sort of "news" show. And make it a crime to misrepresent yourself as news (as all the FOX "ENTERTAINMENT" shows do).
You can be biased, sure, that's a given as EVERYTHING will always be biased. That's just how humans work. But you CANNOT simply lie, make up facts, alter data, mislabel charts or graphs, show only partial data, etc...
And anything you try to claim needs to be backed up with provable facts and evidence.
On top of that, you must allow people to argue their side. So no claiming Democrats are doing X (which is a lie) and even if you claim "they would like to do X" (which is still a lie) you need to have Democrats on to give the truth.

Wow, you started off with something that was accurate and then immediately spun off the road, into a ditch, slammed into a tree, and burst into flames.
"How you gonna take our guns. You have none."
False. There are more Democrats who own guns than Republicans. Even if many individual Republicans own more guns individually (which serves no purpose).
Guns are NOT a freedom of speech right. In fact they are generally used to VIOLATE the right to free speech. Guns have nothing to do with freedom. Simply murder.
And no, civilians with guns in absolutely no way protects anything, and will NEVER be a threat to the government. The government has the military, never mind cops with a far better arsenal than you have access to. How are your guns going to stop a drone strike?
And no, civilians not having guns in absolutely no way takes away your rights as citizens. Guns however, DO violate the rights and freedoms of others.
A gunless America is the America the founding fathers fought for.
And no, China and Russia ARE NOT war ready. Russia's been defeated by Ukraine. And even if Russia and China worked together they still wouldn't be any sort of threat to America. No country or even coalition of countries, can possible stand up to America's insanely bloated military.

@muskyoxes Think about it more like comparing stealing a family sedan and stealing a limo. :p
Basically though, it's government property. It doesn't have to be important, you're stealing from the government. Some things are of course, vastly more important than others.
But the way the laws are written, the penalty is the same for both. The thing is, they're far more likely to want to come after you and prosecute due to the important stuff than the not.
Well, again, to be fair, if anyone else had stolen that lunch menu, the FBI would have black bagged them in the middle of the night. It's only because he's the orange traitor, being protected by every fascist in the Republican party, that he's not ALREADY in prison for life.

@bigwitt187 Oh, I agree. The problem is, western society tends to blend the two quite often. People are raised expecting things to be done for them. "Don't clean up after yourself, they have people for that." Which leads to people getting more and more detached from basic courtesies and personal responsibility.
There was a time when, as in Japan, schools would have students take time after (or at the end of) class to clean up, tidy the desks, sweep the floors, clean the blackboards, etc... to get kids into the habit of simply being respectful and looking after the environment they study in, which leads to them being more willing to do so at home and when out at places that they visit.
Most schools have stopped that thanks to parents complaining about their kids "doing labor". Not wanting their kids to belittle themselves by doing basic courteous things. And now we get generations raised thinking that you can just toss crap anywhere and it's someone else's problem.

@nigelpalmer9248 Actually, yes. I've worked at a bouncer in a strip club. There were plenty of drunken psychotics, male and female, that I've had to deal with.
Part of the training is knowing exactly how to subdue someone without actually harming them. Because the second you use more force than is necessary, you are now the attacker and they can and WILL sue your ass for assault.
If someone's armed, your goal is to grab their wrist, put their arm behind their back and pull upwards to force their grip to loosen so they drop the weapon. Once you have them in that position, you grab their other arm and secure them. Either cuff them, or walk them out of the establishment in that arm lock so that they can't fight back as much.
If for one second you do something like grab them by the hair and drag them down the stairs, you've now become an attacker, and you have literally given them all they need to avoid facing penalties for their own actions.

Constitutional audits are people who's job is to record things (usually police and government officials) to ensure that the Constitutional rights of the people are protected.
Most of the time you'll see them filming random cops. They will exercise their right to film in public (which all Americans have), and many times cops will walk up to try and violate their rights. Illegally demand they stop. Illegally demand to see ID. Sometimes illegally arrest them (which results in massive lawsuits).
But on the plus side, it exposes those corrupt cops, and often times gets them fired. Which is good. Because a cop that's openly violating the rights of the people has no business being a cop.
They were filming random things in the area. That includes filming the inside of the coffee shop, which they are 100% in their right to do. And if that psychotic Karen hadn't assaulted them, they would have quickly just moved on. And that's usually the case. The only time there's problems is when someone comes up and tries to violate Constitutional rights.
In the US, by law, you have the right to record in public. Anything you can see from a public place, you're allowed to record.
So if you're outside a shop, you can record what's going on inside. If they were INSIDE the shop, the store owner could ask them to stop recording, because the shop itself is private property.
If you're on a side walk or other public easement, you can record whatever you want from them. Including a private business, as long as you're not on their property.
These laws exist to protect the people. To ensure that the public can hold those in power accountable. If they were on a sidewalk and recorded some company (on their property) doing something illegal, they could then use that as evidence in a report against the company.
Also, government buildings are PUBLIC property. So you're allowed to walk into a police station or library or such, and record. The only places you can't are in designated private areas. Those will be marked (and also includes bathrooms and change rooms by law). So you can walk around a police station recording. But you can't go into say a records hall in the building and record (if they've marked it as a private area).

@JZ's BFF These days, I'd say that's mostly true. Though you have Dems who will make flimsy promises and some unsavory deals to get into office, while fighting for the greater good. And then Republicans who will lie, cheat, steal, murder and openly violate the Constitution to steal power and use that power to burn the Constitution to ashes, end democracy, destroy America and slaughter it's people.
So I'd still rather support Democrats, even if many of them are shitty people.
But what's important is supporting more who ARE good people. Like Jamie Raskin, Katie Porter, Sheldon Whitehouse, AOC, etc...
While Democrats as a whole as infinitely better than Republicans... America still needs a better quality of Democrat representatives. Replace the Corporate Dems with Progressives who fight for the people and not corporations.

First, Democrats are just as well armed.
Second, most of these drooling morons are likely to shoot themselves in the foot as they are actually hit someone else.
Third, the fight against fascism isn't won with guns. If an actual dictator (not a drooling moron like the orange traitor) tried an actual coup and had military backing, it doesn't matter how many millions of guns civilians had, they would have ZERO chance of stopping it.
Remember that regular people aren't trained. Most of these gutless cucks love to talk big and swing their guns around, but in any actual firefight they would cry and wet themselves. These people talk big, and when they're stood up to, they suddenly panic and cry about how mean people are. They're just cowards hiding behind their guns.
And for those who actually have proper training and could properly take part in an armed fight... the military doesn't care. Not only are they better equipped and trained, but they have the resources to make a ground battle pointless. They'll find out who the possible threats are and end them with drone strikes that you'll never see coming.
This idea that "we need to be armed to protect our country" is idiotic as hell.
ESPECIALLY when it comes to foreign invasion. I've seen countless gun nuts going on about how they'll protect America from the Russians. Despite the fact that wars these days are mostly fought through information. Social media tampering and propaganda. A Russian tool was literally in the White House handing over America's secrets to Putin. Not a shot was needed and Russia completely decimated America in that battle. Russia hacked the US government and had full access, and not a thing was done about it. They don't need to put troops on the ground. Look how easily they've turned one party against America itself. They've all but started a new civil war simply with lies and misinformation.

Sadly a lot of people in America are stupid or ignorant enough to believe both parties are the same. They're completely different. Agendas aside, the Republican party is a monolith. All members vote as one (there is the extremely rare outlier who will break ranks, but usually it's 100% of the party). They follow whatever the RNC tells them to. If they've been ordered to obstruct, they will ALL obstruct.
Meanwhile Democrats are the big tent party. It's made up of socialists, leftists, corporatists, conservatives, liberals, etc... Countless INDIVIDUALS who will all have their own agendas, and who vote independently of each other. Some will support something, others won't. They try to find people in the party who will support something until there's enough to try to get something passed. At which point every last Republican will vote no.
This is NOT how America's government was supposed to work. The founding fathers designed a system WITHOUT PARTIES. Where is was ALL individuals, working to make America a better country. Working and compromising with each other to get things passed. Not two parties in staunch opposition to each other.

No, it's the biggest drama the right wing mainstream media is willing to cover.
Just like in the US, 95% of media is right wing (just like your CNN, MSNBC, etc). They're corporate propaganda networks, owned by far right extremist billionaires. And then on top of that you have fascist, anti-American propaganda networks like FOX.
When Canadian media covers things like this, they won't talk about the countless native Canadian children murdered in schools. Or how the RCMP will kidnap native Canadians, drive them 50 miles out of town in the winter, take their boots, and make them walk back, so they can place bets on how far they'll get before they die. Or how Trudeau killed a bill that would expand dental coverage while pushing a bill giving handouts to medical companies.
Media is corrupt as hell. Unless you go online, you're not going to fine any real "leftist" networks (like TYT, Ring of Fire, Pakman, BTC, etc).

Except Biden is a patriot, who has committed no crimes, and has been a staunch defender of the Constitution.
Unlike fascist Republican traitors, who actively call to burn the Constitution to ashes and destroy America and enslave it's people.
The dementia addled orange cuck that leads them is guilty of theft, embezzlement, tax fraud, rape, child abuse, pedophilia, sexual assault, adultery, and literal treason.

@TR-pu9tp Kind of. Remember that corporations own the US. They literally fund the politicians who get into office, and then pull the strings to make those politicians cut back and regulations and labor laws.
In the US, companies can't "technically" do many things, but there's always loopholes for them to get around that.
For one, they can't FORCE someone to work overtime. But they will happily make it clear that if someone does NOT work massive overtime, well, the company might need to cut back on the workforce at some point. They can't openly say "work overtime or we'll fire you" because that's illegal, but they can IMPLY that such will happen, and thus they skirt the laws.
Basically companies hold a gun to peoples' heads. Do what we say, no matter how cruel, or you lose your job and likely end up homeless.
Some people say "why not just get a different job", which would be fine if the jobs were that easy to find, which they're not. And companies are all much the same, so going to a new company you'll face the same issues. Plus, a company that lets you go for not being a slave like they want, can easily blacklist you in the industry, and prevent you from getting hired anywhere else. Again, not legal, but if say "you should hire someone more inclined to work long hours" rather than "you shouldn't hire this person", they can skirt the regulations and labor laws.
