  5.  @klt479  So, about what you seek in a political party... If you want one that's fiscally responsible, why would you support Republicans? Since Reagan they've NEVER been fiscally responsible. They love giving endless handouts to the ultra rich (who have no need of such) and massive tax cuts, which constantly devastates the economy. Every Republican president causes a recession, while every Democrat is responsible for fixing it. The last administration increased the national debt by $9 TRILLION. The Republicans are also all for big government. They want complete control over business and people. They want to be able to order women exactly how to live their lives. They demand fealty from corporations. Any time a company does something good for the country, Republicans step in to put a stop to it and demand a cut. Meanwhile the companies that SHOULD be regulated (like energy companies) get completely deregulated. Republicans believe in socialism for the rich, where they get everything government funded for them, while paying no taxes... meanwhile the actual poor and middle class citizens get absolutely no support. No healthcare, no education, no social service, etc. They don't support responsible national defense. They literally push for unlimited military spending without consequence. Arm America's allies AND enemies, without a care. Let America's military fall apart while the MIC makes a fortune from massive overcharging and inflation of costs. And the Republican party is literally running on racism and bigotry and hatred. They have for years now. While the Democrats are in no way perfect or "the good guys", they're VASTLY better in every regard to Republicans. And they at least work through the democratic system, unlike the Republicans who focus on voter suppression and efforts to end democracy. I agree that neither party is really "good", but Dems are far "less evil and destructive to America". Ideally, this whole two party system should be done away with. There should be no parties in government. It should be individuals, with their own plans for how to improve the country (actually improving it, not destroying it to make a buck) that co-operate and compromise and work together to get things done. Everyone should essentially be "independent" and they should be working together as needed for the common goal of improving the country. Sadly, with how America is set up, that will never happen. Of course, unless HR1 and the For the People Act and all pass... there won't be an America for much longer. If the Republicans are allowed to continue passing laws that let them ignore the votes of the people, then America is finished. Democracy will be dead and the New Confederate States will be born as a new authoritarian dictatorship.
