  9.  @jjlw2378  I don't think it's simply a matter of Democrat weakness. I think it's honestly part of the plan. See, Corporate Democrats, who are essentially just Republicans who actually still support the Constitution... DO NOT WANT THEIR BILLS TO PASS. They don't WANT pass the tax increases on the rich, or higher minimum wages, or worker protections. Because their corporate owners (the same corporations that own the Republicans on the other side of the aisle) don't want them to. There's a reason Coca-Cola, EXXON, Boeing and all those billion dollar companies invest in politicians on both sides. It's to guarantee that no matter who takes control, their interests are followed. With Republicans, it's easy. When in power they will destroy America, ruin the lives of the citizens and give endless tax cuts and handouts to the ultra rich and corporations. The usual Republican socialism programs. They will happily pass laws to make Americans suffer and their owners rich. When the Dems have control though... they can propose bills that will improve the country on a massive scale and greatly improve the lives of the American people... but they are constantly blocked by Republicans. AND THEY COUNT ON IT. If they pass the voting rights bills, that means all Americans will be able to vote freely and fairly. Which means the Republicans will lose most of their power. Which means Dems will have full control of the House and Senate... at which point they won't be able to hide behind Republican obstruction as to why they're not passing the bills they always promise. Their corporate masters won't let them pass the bills. So without obstruction, they really have no excuses, and they'll be stuck. So they WANT to keep Republicans in power to give them an excuse to over their overlords and ignore the needs of America.

  46.  @amandanevitt7597  In January of 2019 Rand Paul went to Thornhill, Ontario to check in to the Shouldice Hernia Hospital for a hernia surgery. After ranting about how universal healthcare is akin to slavery and how no such system could ever be trusted and it's throwing your life away... the second he needed actual healthcare... he ran across the border to get some. Considering Canada's healthcare system is vastly superior to America's. He claimed it was a "free market" choice, as he had to pay for the healthcare he was getting, so it was completely different from the "socialized medicare" that Canadians get. Despite, you know, it literally being a Canadian hospital that countless Canadians go to FOR FREE because for Canadians it's covered by OHIP (Ontario Health Insurance Plan). He had to pay between $5,000-$8,000 for the operation, which would have cost about $12,000-$20,000 in the US, plus cost of hospital space, medication, etc, etc, etc... some estimates put the total cost at a likely $50,000+. For a Canadian going through the same procedure... wouldn't cost them a cent. Government data estimates that about 1.4 MILLION Americans go to Canada to get healthcare every year (and that number keeps rising as America's healthcare system keeps crumbling). The main reason MORE people don't travel to Canada for healthcare is because of the nature of the system. It's amazing for residents, who are taken care of for free. But non-residents have to pay out of pocket, and while the prices are vastly cheaper than in the US, they can still get costly. Sarah Palin admitted that when she was younger her family would always leave Alaska and go into Canada to see a doctor.
