  2. The graffiti gives Portland a nice touch of atmosphere. The federal government becomes the final guarantor of rights when local governments fail. Portland under Wheeler failed.

  7.  @nautical1078  I watch an occasional movie, I suppose one that Hollywood's Chinese masters allow to be made. A lot of the tech that comes from California starts life in the east coast :) The east has a huge amount of research in the sciences, it's just not concentrated in one area like it is in California.

On the other hand Washington, DC is a welfare colony supported lavishly with a gazillion federal government jobs. Do you think D.C. will ever cut a federal program? Anyway, the bull we get from North and South Dakota at least gives us a good steak.

  9.  @nautical1078  I am not sure stating Washington, DC is a territory that lives off the government tit is incorrect though I can suppose that is a threat to Democrat Party manhood. While many blue states were in decline, several of the southern states were showing economic growth in the private sector.

The Washington Post tries to defend a woman who went to one of the country's best universities, couldn't get a job in either field she studied in in a city with a lot of those jobs, ended up a barmaid and then a Congressional office by promoting racism and spending other people's money. I guess this is Jeff Bezos getting his moneys worth.
