  5. The average Social Security check is $1,200/month and most people paid into it. $1,200 in this day can hardly be called lavish. Many people who live on Social Security never had those jobs that paid high wages and a banquet table of benefits. In many cases, they never had the talents to get great paying jobs that would allow them to sock away a fortune in a bank for the day they did retire. Republicans should consider Social Security untouchable. When they did have a chance to improve Social Security without the addition of more tax dollars... they completely, totally blew it.

  14. I was reading how PayPal is stiffing sellers with not refunding processing fees when a customer returns or cancels a sale. This can be a major cost to retailers and could be a selling point on using Bitcoin.

  15.  @barrycalvert8219  PayPal has taken some surprising twists as of late. PayPal used to be small business friendly but they even jacked up their interest rates for small business loans beyond many credit card companies. They have become quite a money harvesting operation these days.

  26.  @aaronclouse7634  The issue is about affordability. If you see rents freeze today, you will still have people where rents are beyond their reach. If rents keep escalating, the beauties of the market are going to be lost on more and more people and action will be demanded. No politician is going to oversee throwing people into the street. I see no reason even if interest rates drop to 0% rents are going to stop escalating.

  27. The Post Office is the only price competition to the UPS/FedEx duopoly. UPS and FedEx have no incentive to keep rates low and with the Post Office out of the picture rates could only get ridiculous. FedEx offers no price competition at all as they match every increase UPS pushes through.

  33. Janssen is one of the top China flunky boys in Canada. I do think some Chinese banks did go down but the government took them over quickly. A few others could not cover their depositors withdrawals but they managed to dodge the bullet. The number of banks failing is relatively small, but it does happen.
