  1. Not the first time things like this happened. As I understand it, RCA, who purchased the Victor Talking Machine Company had many of America's earliest musical recordings took poor care of those early masters and they eventually dumped them in a landfill. During World War 2 thousands of masters from a variety of record companies were melted down for the war effort. Many of these recordings had a low number of pressings and at best only a few copies of many prime recordings exist on brittle old 78's.

  2. From what I understand, if you get a gazillion views you can do okay. In a few cases very very ok. That is why some of these people grind out a video or two a day.

  3. Outside of a few big names it probably doesn't pay to do that sort of work. It is the same with movies, the studios will invest in the restoration of the great classics because they still sell well but many lesser known films will never see a face lift.

  5. A 50-50 split I could see. This could be in part due to pressure from Europe on copyrights. Europe is not so charmed by Silicon Valley.
