  1. About 20% of the German soldiers that surrendered to the Soviet troops in WW2 never came home. About the same percentage of Soviet troops that surrendered to the Germans didn't didn't live long enough to see POW camps.

  3.  @rachelsanford9743  Geneva Convention is all fine and well but the division between Ukraine and Russia runs deep and is full of resentment. The Russians in the Ukraine say they are Russian and support Russia, They are not part of the solution but part of the problem of 100 years of very bad history between Ukraine and Russia. Russia is doing now what it has done to the Ukraine repeatedly in the past.
