Amazon collects healthy fees from the independent merchants that sell on the platform while Amazon scans the merchant's data to be able to cherry pick hot sellers and then compete against those same merchants.

This eludes all of the Progressives. You have to improve productivity. One area that is problematic is cheap import competition that causes destruction of jobs. You get your tv a bit cheaper but is the savings chewed up with increased social tension, increases in social benefits paid through taxes? These calculations do not come into play when looking at the trade deficit.
