The constant push about slavery by these carnival barkers is a way for people like Hannah-Jones to attract some attention to themselves. The world is rapidly changing with economic and military power shifting. Slobbering over slavery that ended over 170 years ago will not prepare kids for a world in which earning a living will be become more and more difficult. This change is complex and people like Kendi and Jones have no answers for it. And yet they are taken seriously.

@kevinstfort You act like slavery has been hidden and not discussed. The problem is Blacks want this to be the be all and end all of American history and it's just a part of American history. Puerto Rico has not been subjugated and as for the genocide of the natives, who cares? I always respond with if you have a problem with it, leave and go back to the country your family came from. And make sure when you go back, make sure the land you end up on wasn't stolen from some other group. By the way, as long as you hustle to get a few bucks or move up the ladder, you are benefitting from the genocide of the natives. And isn't that what so many blacks complain about, that they aren't getting their share of the loot?
