If the economy crashes again I can see real estate becoming a political tool.

Unemployment figures reflect the people looking for a job. The numbers do not reflect those that gave up looking for a job.

In dropping shipping, if you can sell it so can thousand's of others. The best route is to develop items unique to you. Or you sell limited run items like certain collectibles such sneakers, old audio equipment (out of production, limited availability). Items in current production are subject to heavy price competition and then the race to the bottom starts. The manufacturer makes money and you take a bath.

Can he sleep with such large buttons on his pajamas?

I think landlords are seeing their properties can be seized to serve a political or social purpose. Once done the next time around will be easier to seize. Something to keep in mind when investing. They can sue their tenants but if the tenants have no money, well they have no money to pay the back rent due and should tax payers have to make up landlord's losses? This is a risk of investing, they have something that is basic to life (like food).

Calling the current market a bubble would not make you inaccurate.

Colleges are filled with leftist professors. And just because you are a leftist doesn't mean you can't live large on the public dime.
5
I want to know the details on the new trade deals with India.

This guy can not draw chimneys.
4
@exceldetail Leftist are quite good with money... ... other people's money.
4
@exaucemayunga22 It will matter to those who bought into a bubble. The issue here is stock valuation, not the advancement of technology.

Trade with China is a real money losing proposition for the United States. The trade deficit is staggering. Europe is seeing the same with their trade with China.
3
They do not make enough to pay any tax.

@noobjitsu1743 The cost of college

Marry rich.
2
@exaucemayunga22 If you take a bath with the collapse of stock prices, it could mean poverty for you.
2
Guacamole is not an environmentally friendly product and you are aiding the destruction of the Earth.
2
For a lot of people I would guess just didn't have wage increases to match inflation.
2
A lot of people do not have the money to invest. The people who did benefit were those that worked for municipal governments as the taxes that were paid by the stimulus check made sure the workers got paid.
2
Easy to say all this as an outsider. Inside, it all goes out the window.

In 2008 Ford stock dropped to around .50 share. It was up to $17 two years later. Not a bad return.

If you need office space, so will other businesses.
1
$50 for utilities? You must live in a cave that is near a babbling brook and gets hit by occasional lighting strikes.

This guy can't get anymore random. It is possible in the future rental properties may be subject to more politics than in the past. It will be good for votes in times of economic turmoil when it will be suggested property owners forgo rent payments for the "public good".
1
The Communist never needed an excuse to help themselves to intellectual property. The Soviet Union did it too.
1
I am not enthused about Bitcoin because it has no inherit value outside of what big money players give it. With gold, if you buy an ounce and the value falls you can at least have it hammered into a tooth.
1
@ChanceK.100 Homeless people on the street will cause the Democrats to go after those rich slum lords and landlords. I think you can figure out the rest.
1
In India this guy's name means "Random Guy".
1
Amazon takes it's profits and invests them back into the business.
1
You go to the counter and say you keep your sweatshirt and I'll keep my money... What you will probably hear is the clerk calling you an Ahole.
1
Avoid adjustable rate when possible.
1
If you look at the Treasury website you will find the rich already pay the bulk of the taxes.
1
@the-hive-law If there is one group that could make the demand for other people to pay their fair share, it would be the rich.

A lot of people make a good living off of racism. The American media portrays a one sided racism because it attracts viewers and readers and doesn't paint a broader picture. Racism is just one form of a sense of superiority and there is a whole menu of superiority (such as classism). Any study of world history shows people do not like people and one historian calculated in the last 2,000 years, there has been less than 365 days of true peace. Oh well...
1
There were less government programs then.
1
@yomama1254 More like people expected less from government.
1
@yomama1254 Some of what you said applied to some. Others, not so much. But your experience is not all experience. And those 90% tax rates started biting into the economy and slowing it down. The 50's were a peculiar time in history but it ended and things became more like it was pre-1950.
1
@SirenaSpades Angry homeless people vote.

Gold backing meant the value of a currency wouldn't flop around. A gold backed currency wasn't based on market mood where as crypto currency is. I can not see a business build on the use of Bitcoin because the value can radically shoot up or down and any company that takes Bitcoin can see the value of the payment they get drop radically before they could convert the bitcoin to currency.
1
That is the law of supply and demand at work.
1
A lot of people make a good living keeping the pot stirred.

I doubt you will see bargain basement rents in New York City unless there is a mass of real estate company bankruptcies. Many rents are based on contracts with investment companies and I doubt they will be happy to see the value of collateral drop. But... anything is possible.
1
I am amused Mr. Random has such sympathy for a totalitarian state and the products of that state.
1
I have to check with all my friends to see if this guy is right.
1
How random is a random guy?
1
In the 1907 economic slow down, J.P. Morgan along with several others bankers bought $25 million dollars of stock to bring back the New York stock exchange and to prevent a crash. Now it's $ billions upon billions.
1
The world changed. And it has become more competitive. Competition that didn't exist 30-40 years ago.
1
Could you repeat that?
1
If you seek a commitment but want something a little less demanding than a business just get married and have kids.
1
People like you in the 1940's must have bought lampshades from Nazi Germany.
