In mainland China there is no private anything. Surprisingly, there are a lot of Chinese that feel fine over the social credit system and the control of their money. There is an assumption they are good people and no one will ever punish them, either by intent or mistake.

Depends on who is being watched :)

You can spend using cash. Just credit card companies won't give you an account. You could also use a debit card. In China, your money can be easily cut off by a push of a button. And with commerce increasingly conducted on a cell phone, cutting off someone from their money is easy to do. On another video a man was interviewed who was partly cut off. He could buy a soft drink but couldn't buy a train ticket. He could pay his rent but couldn't buy on the internet. Trying to find out the reason why was a mission from hell for him as there is no central point where you could find someone you can ask.

Like most societies it is good to have friends of friends.

@yongy2000 Ask Jack Ma :)

@yongy2000 Not yet. He got a pretty good smack down already over Ant Group. Maybe Jack got on the right side of political thinking?

@yongy2000 Corporations formed with private investment are private property with property ownership spread among several owners, much like co-op apartments are. In China, if you are with the right "in" group, you get power, just like the U.S. Unlike China, in the U.S. those in the "out" group get to exist relatively unmolested. They just may not get the juicy, juicy contracts. Jack Ma found out if not with the "in" group, it is best to keep your mouth shut in public and be very guarded in private.
