@JohnT.4321 Very well thought out. What you should take away is: accidents happen. The railroad probably followed set down procedures for dealing with chemical spills. They usually do not wing it. What might work in one situation may not work well in another.

@JohnT.4321 The current braking system works well and replacing it with an electronic system can bring it's own problems. False triggers might cause trains to jackknife. The failure in East Palestine wouldn't have been prevented by better brakes.

@JohnT.4321 I am well aware of Norfolk Southern's view on electronic brakes. New is not always better. Keep in mind under rain conditions trains will slide on the track. If the wheels lock up quickly, you may create a huge sledge. If there is a problem with the signaling and some cars brake independently, you'll end up with an accident that looks like the one in East Palestine. None the less, the accident in East Palestine was not because of brake failure, it was an unrelated mechanical failure.
