  1. The Democrats were embarrassed into supporting civil rights. Now they operate on a guilt reaction to their support of slavery. They do not always expand rights, they still have no problem suppressing other's rights. I think the Democrats wouldn't have any problem ending freedom of speech if it reduced someone's or some group's hurt feelings.
