  2. I wonder if he would enjoy modern Anime if he knew the look of Anime was in part from a 1936 Betty Boop cartoon called In A Language Of My Own. Part of a goodwill exchange was Betty Boop singing in Japanese and the grandfather of anime was sitting in the audience watching. Paying attention to the drawing style, he noted how big Betty's eyes were and he incorporated it into his animation style. You can find the cartoon on here.
