  1. Much lithium is found in countries not favorably disposed to the west. And they will not allow lithium out without making sure they get their pound of flesh. Maybe they'll wait until huge numbers of lithium devices are used in the electric grid then hit their customers with massive price increases like OPEC as done with oil.

  4. Solar panels and wind turbines are pretty much tinker toy technologies. Why, you might as well go back to coal :) If you are serious you'll argue for more nuclear. Fusion is promising but far off into the future but it is real technology that can produce huge amounts of electric cleanly, no electrical Viagra for solar panels needed. By the way, profits is not a bad word, I never met anyone who would work for free or better yet, insisted on paying more to use a vital service (such as electricity). Fossil fuels still deliver the best bang for the buck in electric production and will do so for the foreseeable future. And solar panels are made in China, creating Chinese jobs while nuclear plants are built in America creating American jobs.
