Nope. Blue cities have the highest overall numbers. Everyone knows this and total numbers matter much more than per capita numbers. That being said, blue counties also have the highest per capita numbers. Between 2014 and 2020, red counties averaged 4.16 per 1,000 people while blue counties averaged 6.76.

@jehandesains8674 We don't agree. Total numbers are much more important than per capita. If you want to make the biggest dent in overall gun crime, you don't focus on places with very low numbers even though they are higher per capita. You focus on where you can make the most impact in bringing down the totals. We cannot be compared to Europe because we have the 2nd amendment. It's a thing. If you want to repeal the 2nd amendment, that's certainly a very valid position to have. Per capita is also to be viewed on the county level as opposed to the state level. See the numbers I already presented. Here's solutions.Vote out do nothing district attorneys who won't prosecute, get rid of police consent decrees, no cash bail and revolving door "justice" that allows gun criminals to operate with impunity over and over again.

@jehandesains8674 Total numbers are the most important because they result in the greatest overall loss of life and injuries. And like I said, if you want to make the great impact in terms of reductions you focus on the areas with the most total numbers. Per capita is best viewed on the county and local level because of the variations in how local police departments police and more importantly how the local district attorney offices operate. In my blue areas, the leniancy is unbelievable and people who should be taken off the streets are not taken off the streets. But as to per capita there are some very important caveats to that. Huck and Hank shooting each other over a property line dispute in a rural area doesn't make that area more dangerous than South Central LA or the West side of Chicago. What you get in these big blue cities is neighborhood pockets where you see extreme levels in both total and per capital numbers. Hyper local danger zones. Also the US can't be compared to Switzerland. Totally different populations and cultural values. But yeah, repealing the second amendment could be a way to approach this. I have no idea how that would play out though.

The highest per capita numbers are in blue counties. They are higher than in red counties. 6.76 per 1,000 vs 4.16 per 1,000. In any event, overall numbers are the focus and of course blue cities have the highest.

@ben5154 Total numbers are much more important but per capita is also higher in blue counties than in red ones. Word
