It's always incouraging when a scientist admits when something is unknown. When hydrolases in the blood or lymph digest a virus, the immune complement will still react to the larger detritus and store that information. All part of a feedback loop going to the forgotten chief component of immunity: the pancreas, ultimately, on when to amp up systemic hydrolase production. The fixation on contact or cellular immune components is misguided, and it leaves a huge grey area of mystery about those exposed, testing positive and not aware of being sick or barely noticing.
