i guess there is a reason rocket scientists are symbols of intelligence. So what you are saying is we know the body moves because the explosion has unequal impact surfaces, in the tank itself, and has nothing to do with whether there is air or ground behind it. in vacuum or not. it is not necessary for a rocket to be streamlined in a vacuum, either. A space ship can be a cube or orb. if an explosion occurs in a tank with one end open, it is the side of the tank in the direction we want to go where thrust is going to be felt. not the rear obviously. the sides also feel impact, but they zero or cancel each other out.
