  1. The model was fine of the Nixon-Kennedy debate. There was nothing wrong with it. Steve Allen had a series for intellectual debate of historic figures, that format was fine. The biggest failure was the debate format and the moderator. We don't have people with the alertness, savvy and maturity of the men of Nixon and Kennedy's time in television or media. No Murrow, no Huntley, Brinkley, no Steve Allen or even Dorothy Kilgallen. We're stuck with children running things.
