  1. Everyone trying to figure out where consciousness belongs. Epiphenomenon or a causal force. I think it a safer bet to see it as practically only a tiny effect of life. It is a summation of intelligent action but directs only the tiniest fraction of of the matter in which it is ensconced. If our consciousness had to be involved in chemical reactions, it's a sure bet animate life would be doomed.
