@jimoberg3326 : That's tantamount to calling Cpt. Dwight a liar. He wouldn't have a problem deducing its factuality by the treatment he received. And the position he had over the group Yeager could hardly fail to learn Dwight was being iced. And he never reproved anybody, so, I take the man at his word.

Well I took to Unz and read what Yeager himself had to say about. Interesting, but of course, it's mostly hearsay too. I'm willing to give him the benefit of a doubt. Now I'm not a journalist, but presumably the academic and flight assessments of Dwight are available for his periods before and after his acceptance into the programme, to enable assessment of the accuracy of Yeager's recollections regarding how Dwight got in, his scores and the rest. @jimoberg3326 : Ha, I am aware, but no, I was talking about having to retrace a comment. Because I have admired Yeager since I read his book, but I'm glad to, so be prepared to see this thread disappear, at the risk of appearing disingenuous. I find it odd he originally resisted Dwight's inclusion, but then asked the group be enlarged to include four extra people besides Dwight. Of course that included funding increase too. I like to think the best of people, but not to the extent of naivety. People have their flaws, and I feel history needs to be frank.
