  1. The thing is, with machine scanned mail-in and absentee ballots, the process of maintaining security and anonymity of ballots can be perfect all the way up to posting. And this is where they put it on a thumb drive and then plug it into a computer: that is the weak link. Where people count the ballot markings, is another weak link. There have to be two people for every ballot, bipartisan. Theoretically three, but that's never done as far as I know. Theoretically, Voting ends midnight, except for ballots received by mail postmarked pre-days-date or on that day alone are legal. But there are reports a processor can back date or sort late entries with predate receipts. As to how credible those reports are, idk. This year, no matter what, will change how we vote from now on.
