Cleese was right... the Archbishop is a complete caricature! π

Kudos for the director and/or editor and/or writer... very well told... slow build, tension increases... landing!

What's is gonna be... punk! [Clint Eastwood]

Am I the only person who saw the piece as another BBC condescending piss take? These old records are priceless and give great insight into the attitudes of the British towards us Irish back then.

"The Americans are just so nice." .... sigh...

My brother was a skinhead back then and used to brag about "pakkie bashing"... social norms have a function.

β@anthonykoller4459 Nonsense. Those old machines were easy to hack. You simply can't hack something that is not connected to the net!

If memory serves, "God save rock and roll" was one of their numbers, right? ... if I caught just a bit of it on the radio, it became an earworm that drove me nuts.... πππππ

Anyone notice how his speech pattern sounds remarkedly like William Shatner's stacatto line deliveries?

Β @mr.x9566Β 2012? Wow!.... "Can you imagine??? Doing your business indoors! How dreadful. What are young people coming to today?" π ... I spent a few winters living with relatives in a fishing village as a very young child and can still remember the chamber pot under the bed pungently stinking up the room shared by five children. There was an outdoor toilet but it was too cold to use at night. That was in the late 1960s. I was not surprised to see Russians stealing toilet bowls(!) in Ukraine.... what a world we live in!

"It didn't have a plot"... "it wandered around"... um, maybe there was a clue in the title? "Hitchhiker" ...? ππππ

Also known as a heads-up display... originally intended for jet pilots.

Is it a coincidence that every single instrument is out of tune? ... or is that a feature?
3
The quality of her voice is almost... childlike...

"My Bottom was my best part"... audience... silence...

1980... were those "dumps" the remains of buildings destroyed in WW2? In the 60s, my family rented a flat in a condemned building (yes, it was illegal and there was only one toilet for the entire 3-storey buidling). There were still lots of bombed terraces awaiting demolition back then in Archway.

I'm all for tradition... when it has cultural significance that doesn't involve reinforcing the "caste structure", inflicting poverty on others, etc... or pointless cruelty... like fox hunting... the sport of "royals". Not my king! Give us back our property! And get a real job!

I quit facebook years ago... and good riddance! It was great at first... until it warped into a weird "monkey on your back" that followed you everywhere...

The hairstyles... ?!?!

Β @58BrandoΒ Thank you. That's a Sunderland accent? I've listened to other Sunderlanders but their accent is not the same (but that may because the vids I found were all recent). And I didn't really hear any Scotch tints to his accent. A mystery! π

Compare the "BBC" accent back then to the hosts today... are the current hosts well spoken?

The Macintosh was NOT the first GUI. "The first GUI was created byΒ Alan Kay and Douglas EngelbartΒ at Xerox PARC in 1981." Bill Gates stole Mac code and brought Windows to market early (thus, blue screen of death).

If we followed 1962 standards, Arnold Swharzenneger would have become James Bond!

Cats have glands in their noses, which they rub on their "property", including people.

An 11-year old invented YouTube in 1974...

Fact: video tape does deteriate. Lifespan: ~15-30 years.

Any kind of fiat money is a ponzi scheme that will eventually collapse, as will the dollar when other countries stop shoring it up as the "reserve currency" and buying US treasuries.

Small calibres bounce around inside the body and often cause more damage than higher calibre bullets that penetrate in a straight line through the body.
1
Β @Provo647Β I checked... and you're right. Except... with high-velocity small calibre ammunition and these are usually only fired from rifles. Right?

Pork tastes like human flesh... according to the survivors of the 1970s plane crash in the Andes that turned cannibal to survive.

70 people were injured by lions during the making of the film Roar.

"I don't think it will produce any more similar things".... πππππππ

Buzzkill here. Loved Roger Moore as an actor... except as Bond. He seemed too much of a wimp.

It was great at first until greed took over and it started selling your data to the highest bidder...

Those accents from 40ish years ago! How language evolves is comical...
1
What is that accent? Where did he get it?

Β @amitbasu8159Β Thanks.

What a load of codswallop... e.g. there are plenty of attempts to understand man's behaviour, such as Skinner, etc. Chomsky's epistomology is overrated... being able to tie yourself in solipsistic knots is not good philosophy... or practical, i.e. what does it contribute to the world other than masturberatory ego waxing.

I saw "computer operators" working out by lifting two of those disks in each hand.
