15 years old is a youth not a "boy".

@GG-ml3vr It's a media infantilisation term that I don't like.

@clareansell8634 yes it does, for the above reason.

@tubecated_development No I wouldn't

@lifechangeshypnosis8991 Legislation in this area is stupid & wrong. 15 is not a child, it's a youth

@lifechangeshypnosis8991 Sex with a youth under the age of 16 is illegal, that doesn't mean that they're a "child".

ladyj7085 See post above on infantilisation by the media & legislators

ladyj7085 Yes, & it's not primarily coming from the media, it's coming from parliament which is codifying this stuff into law, which the media is then obliged to reflect in its terminology. A 15 year ls not a child/boy, it's a youth, who is more mature with more life experience than a child, & should be held more accountable for their actions in law. There's a Leftist infantilisation that's crept into this area of law, & - as intended - it's having dangerous societal consequences in criminal sentencing policies, & its terminology is a reflection of that. What appears trivial on the surface in the use of words, is more sinister beneath.

@jolube2448 He was a youth, not a little boy.

ladyj7085 Any1 who is 15 is a youth, not a child, for the reasons I've given you already. How parents regard their kids is another matter.

@F00799 Fair point, but I doubt the grieving parents are reading thru the internet right now, they've something more on their mind.

ladyj7085 Yr clearly struggling to understand complex ideas, so let's leave it here: a 15 year old teenager is a youth not a "child", for the reasons I've already stated above.
