  1. Yes, and the Navy is regretting retiring the F-14 considering the short range of current fleet in regards to China... That they're making a stealth refuelling drone to give those hornet's some legs.

Although, it's unlikely America would go to war with Russia directly, even if Russia invaded the Baltics, the war would probably be localised to that location. I don't think they'd try invade American homeland like Red Dawn haha. Was that the Clancy novel? My uncle works in Moscow for the consulate, doing anti espionage sometimes. He's met Putin once, I can only go off his info, but Russians love money just as much as Americans... Although I do agree they'd be more likely to use a nuke, especially a rogue general, as they're underpaid compared to the Kremlin politicians.

  5.  @joshburke4083  That's not today's world, though. That's a strategy from 1991 - 2010. Current aircraft doctrine is about combating a resurgent Russia, and China. Hence the current panic to extend the ranges of jets operating from aircraft carriers - which have to operate well beyond the first island chain.

  9.  @joshburke4083  I honestly don't think a war with China would come to nukes. Their government is so entangled with the economy, especially the generals, they'd probably surrender if the war was going bad.
