  17. There's nothing unique with Israel. Finland done an even better job against the Soviets. If you take any Western nation, like Netherlands or Austria, plonk them down in the middle east, they'd do just as well. It's the European model of command that matters the most.

  27. @Zero One Zero sorry, but the ANZUS alliance is seriously questioned within Australian military circles, as to whether America would meet it's obligation. Before Australia intervened in Indonesia, during the East Timor crisis, it was assumed America would assist Australia - they did not.
