And he's absolutely wrong that "Subverse" is a made up word, likening it to "Coca Cola". Yes, Subverse is an obsolete word, but it's not unique like Coca Cola (which never existed before that company).

He keeps saying it's "made up" and "original". It doesn't matter if he intended it to mean sub culture + universe, he never twisted the name/word into something original.

@davesworld7961 . It sucks that this popular porn game is challenging Tim's Subverse channel. But, any google search over the past few years would have shown that "Subverse" isn't a unique name.

I agree that Subverse isn't a good brand name. It sounds like "deception", or "revolution" in terms of synonyms.

@Dashblack09 . He can choose to fight. Is it worth kicking the hornets nest which is "porn gaming", though? It's up to Tim whether he wants all those enemies.
4
@bluemeriadoc . And the alternative? Pissing off the gaming community? If Tim thinks people try to sabotage him now, wait until you start a war with the Steam community.

@ElAndresRodriguez . If you're as big as those companies, it's fine. But for smaller companies, choosing a "dictionary name" will see your brand drown to competitors.

thestrongbad . Dude, no. This is a good lesson for any new business. Want to call yourself Duck? That'd be stupid. DuckDuckGo is 100% unique, and they're not competing against all the other "duck" brands out there. Protip: choose a unique name.

@ElAndresRodriguez . Decades? No way. Apple was in Time magazine almost immediately. Besides, even if it did take decades, those are two extremely cherry-picked examples of successful brands... There's hundreds of "Tom's hardwares", "flower powers" or other normal names that haven't succeced.
1
@ElAndresRodriguez . Btw, I know first hand. Chose a unique brand name for my business and done quite well. Not going to DOX myself, but let's say I chose the name "Technic" for my business, which I changed to "TeQniQ". So it became completley original.

He REALLY should delete the other 2 channels, and have all content under "Tim Pool". I know he has all those channels to make it appear he has more subscribers, but it's just confusing.
1
@yor9783 . True, he shouldn't call it "Tim Pool", but "Subverse" isn't any better either. Look at successful companies: Coca Cola, Google, Boeing... They're unique names, that didn't come straight out of a dictionary.

@LachskoenigIV . Subversive...
