  1. I'm not a farmer, but I've been running heavy equipment for 22 years. I love running the new Cat loaders and dozers with all of the electronics. They make my job much easier. However, every place I've ever worked has always had one or two old Cat 980C loaders as back-ups for when the new ones break. Many times a new model will have a sensor go out and the machine will refuse to operate even though the sensor that's malfunctioning isn't critical to operations or safety. We have our own tech who repair mechanical issues like leaking hoses or broken bolts, but anything electronic requires us to wait for Cat to send a tech out to diag and repair the problem.
