6 years later, in 2020, we like these songs again because they're no longer overplayed. Commercial radio has a bad habit of figuring out people like a song and then playing it every 40 minutes all freakin' day until people can't stand it.

The Challenger is proof that politicians should NEVER be allowed to overrule scientists... On ANY subject.

@alvinv.5980 She was 17 and it was her first award. She was obviously in shock. The right move would have been for the Grammy's to ban Kanye from ever receiving or even attending the Grammy's ever again.
18
Yeah, evangelicals and conservative mommy groups had nothing to do with it.

I've been saying, "Isn't it ironic that "Ironic" contains no irony" for years...

Because the Alien franchise is 1000 times better than that Marvel crap.

In the game, her father had been a treasure hunter and she was wealthy. She lived in a large estate with access to tech and weapons. Her wealth was reflected in her character. Angelina portrayed this well. Alicia didn't. Not to mention, Alicia wasn't buff enough. She's too skinny to be Lara.

They were also making the point that war doesn't only kill front line soldiers. Death happens everywhere in war. He died on a transport headed back to the States.

@StuTheDon17 Vs the politicians and who's funding them? Scientists > Politicians.

@erso3302 Ruined is ruined... They're both to blame.

Before Real World, reality TV was mostly real. After, it's scripted, just like any sitcom. The only difference is that the actors are all amateurs and not professionals. It's really just a way to get around SAG. @8:45... Those of us from the original MTV Generation (Gen X), still crave a channel with music videos. Unfortunately, it no longer exists. It's been replaced by a network that has strayed so far from it's origins that it's no longer recognizable, like TLC and Discovery. @12:00... While CNN did usher in the 24 news cycle, which is largely a good thing, it also made news a for profit business and turned it away from being a public service. CNN is why we now have advertising during the evening news and why sensational headlines and "more on that later" are now a thing.

@erso3302 Trying to have content censored and boycotting sponsors isn't about protecting children. It's about preventing anyone from seeing the things they don't like, just like the liberals.
2
@albertPI007 Ummm, physics. The things Lara does requires a fitness level far beyond normal.
2
For the record, Aaliyah didn't "pass away". She was killed by negligence.

Skip the first minute for the actual list.
1
MASH should have been on the list more than once. The episode after Radar goes home and B.J. gets plastered, destroys the still and hits Hawkeye because his daughter Erin called Radar "Daddy". That was soul crushing.
1
Since You've Been Gone totally sounds like it was written for Pink.
1
Jane's WW2 is still my favorite. I have an old Win 98SE machine I use just for playing Jane's WW2 and Longbow.
1
@edilbertorivera3467 No, I'm talking about the story, acting and directing.
1
@aasamspb967 Yep.

I could make a list of stupid lyrics using just Pitbull songs. Let's start with the non-lyrical, "Ooooooo Weeeeee", that seems to show up in EVERY song.
1
IMO... Brave's a better song than Roar.
1
Both 21 Jump Street and Chips were trash, imo. Mostly because I was hoping they'd be movie versions of the TV shows. Instead, they turned Cop dramas with occasional comedy into Keystone Kop "buddy comedy" movies.
1
You missed a big one... The Smith's, "How Soon is Now?". It's often used in any show or movie with witches, despite the fact that the song has nothing to do with witches. I think when people that pick songs for movies/shows hear the lyrics, "I am the son and the heir", they think it's actually, "I am the sun and the air", which is incorrect. Also, I can't be the only one who's always thought Rick Astley's voice doesn't match his body? He looks like he should have a high pitched nerdy kid voice. Not that deep crooner voice.
1
@ Yeah, and there are politicians TODAY who are pro-tobacco.
1
Yolandi Visser of Die Antwoord... and what about Tiny Tim?
1
Finally! Someone who agrees with me that Rebecca was better than Jennifer.
1
Gwen was so much better with No Doubt.
1
The worst thing about "Dirty Grandpa" was that we never got to see Aubrey topless.
1
What Beyonce did for Taylor is why she's Queen B.
1
This video would be much better without the weird background music. Why does it need to be there?
1
@TheHound402 Sorry, not taking the bait. Move along.
1
@TheHound402 You're not here for a discussion, you're here for an argument. Look elsewhere.
1
@TheHound402 A two person conversation, which you weren't a part of.
1
@TheHound402 It's forbidden because I get to choose who I engage with. I choose not to take your bait. Converse with the OP all you want as I have now totally lost interest. :waves:

The narration sucks all of the emotion out of these ads. Just show the ads.
1
Izzy Kamakawiwoʻole's version of "Over the Rainbow" is used a lot. Usually when someone dies... Like Dr.Greene in E.R.
1
Really? No Blue Thunder? You people suck.
1
Maybe it's me, but I thought LFO was meant to be a parody of Boy Bands, so the stupid lyrics make sense.
1
The Starbucks one was ok, but most of the dummies I run into at Starbucks are white and named Becky or Chad.
1
Alanis has publicly stated that she didn't know what ironic meant when she wrote the song. She wasn't try to be clever.
1
Can't believe you haven't mentioned The Smiths, "How Soon is Now". Many people, including many in Hollywood, think the lyric is "I am the sun and the air" and associate the song with Wiccan. It has been used on the soundtrack of The Craft an as the theme song for Charmed. The song is actually about a guy so overcome with shyness that he can't find a partner.

IMO, #5 shoulda been #1, the others all bumped down a spot. Katy Perry's performance should be bumped up several spots just for Missy Elliot. It was awesome to see her back on stage after years of producing.
1
So, I'm guessing this list is based on UK chart performance. In the US, "Twilight Zone" was a bigger hit that "Get Ready for This" at the time. Twilight Zone hit #5 on the US Dance chart, Get Ready only hit #14. Also, "I've got the Power" outsold and outcharted "Rhythm is a Dancer" in the US.

If Ghostbusters had been written as a sequel with an all-female team being trained by the originals to replace them, it would have done great. Instead, they told Gen-X Ghostbusters fans like myself, "we don't care what you want", and we voted with our wallets. I still haven't seen it. Hint to Hollywood producers... When you leak a storyline to get reactions before you start filming, and the overwhelming response is, "Hell no", don't make it anyways.
1
All this video taught me is that some people really deserve a good beating.
1
The album version of "Missing" really wan't very popular. It was the remix that was played on the radio and at the clubs.
1
How is "Blue Thunder" not on this list? One of the best aerial combat scenes ever. "Follow my leader"....
1
The "Fast Car" duet with Chapman and Combs at the Grammys was amazing, and I can't stand Country music.
1
I used to have a little side business repairing cassettes for my classmates. I charged a dollar to splice broken tapes.
