  1. When shopping classics, it's ALWAYS cheaper to buy a sorted car. Buying a project is never going to save money. Buying a project is about the enjoyment of fixing it up yourself with the parts you want. BTW, the reason why 4 cylinders don't sound like that any more... The large majority of drivers view a car as an appliance. They want it quiet, easy to drive and low maintenance. Not only do engines not sound good any more, manual transmissions are almost dead, and cars are no longer designed to allow easy DIY maintenance.
