  2. My mother had a 2001 Cherokee, the last year. They didn't call this the Cherokee in the US because Cherokee owners in the US took their Chreokees off road at a far higher rate than owners in any other country. The Liberty could go off road, but it wasn't as good off road as the pre-2001. The switches in the console are a styling thing that Jeep thinks Jeep owners want, but don't really. We get having them centralized in a Wrangler for functional reasons. There's no real reason here. The better alternative to the Liberty is the Dodge Nitro with the 4.0L V6.
