@6:30... To me that just means a 10% tariff on clothes isn't enough. Maybe it needs to be 100%. Yes, it is inflationary, but if the LONG term result is higher wages for Americans because manufacturing always pays more than flipping burgers, I'm okay with it. Higher prices are fine as long as they come with higher wages. What we're seeing NOW is higher prices due to higher profit margins without the increased wages. Most of the new jobs being created are in the minimum wage service sector. @9:00... You SHOULD spend the $500 on the Kirby. The yearly cost to own it is FAR less than the $150 Chinese Walmart vacuum. That Kirby will last 30 years because when it breaks, you can repair it. That Walmart vacuum will break in 2 to 5 years and it's not repairable. You trash it and buy another. This also creates more waste. Buying the Kirby for $500 is BY FAR the better deal. The problem is that American consumers used to read Consumer Reports, or do other research to buy the best value. Americans can't afford to do that any more. They now buy the cheapest they can get because it's all they can afford. Why? Because all of the good jobs have left and been outsourced to other countries. To bring back the post war economy of the 50's, you have to bring back the post war manufacturing jobs.
