Mobil 1 sponsoring this video and having you feature their oil, when other oils might perform as well or better kinda gives me the Icks. I look to your channel for unbiased engineering reviews.

@mrmariusi He used the same trailer is Tesla. Tesla removed weight from the trailer.

@mrmariusi Nobody said it was cheating. I explained why the trailer Tesla used wasn't the same. A lighter trailer is an advantage.

As someone who prefers station wagons to crossovers, I appreciate the lack of ground clearance. I'd much rather have a sportswagon than a "cute ute".

I've found most of Tesla's problems boil down to them being a tech company that sells cars and not a car company.

@UNIQUEMEN100 yes, I know. My point was they should have left it where it was. If Nissan thought turbine speed was a necessary bit of info, that could have been put in the cluster.

@jia7833 Show me where I said they lied.

Well, it's not really and engine swapped 370. It's the same platform as the 370, but the front and rear subframes are both completely different. The suspension pickup points are completely different. Japanese and Korean car companies are notorious for making you buy higher trims to get options. They don't usually offer many actual options. I assume it's for production streamlining, but it sucks. Turbo speed gauge is a gimmick. I don't know why they don't have oil pressure, like the 370. That's actually a useful gauge.

So the best "realistic" practice for LFP is to use it from 0 to 60% daily, charging to 100% once per month.

I think we've reached the limit of acceleration on the street on street legal tires. I think about 2.3 seconds is a quick as it gets. AWD and more HP won't make anything any quicker. We need better streets or better street legal tires to get any more acceleration.

I don't care about renewable factor. I care about 104+ octane for 1/3 the price of race gas. E85 (closer to E70 here in Vegas) got me.

@20:05... While not a "hatch", the new WRX tS also offers AWD ans a stick... If you're okay with a sedan body.

America needs ANYTHING rwd, under 3k Lbs. and more than 200hp. You're right about light weight coming with low HP. Miata and Toyota 86 are both light, but under powered. Mazda could give us what we want by adding a turbo and lightening by de-contenting. I'll take an A110s, if you're asking.

Another point you didn't address is the fact that Hydrogen LOVES to bond with other elements and as such, s=does not occur alone anywhere in nature. We therefore have to manufacture Hydrogen by separating it out of a molecule. This requires energy that may come from a renewable source, or may not. This adds to the carbon footprint of Hydrogen, making it less clean.

I use to run motorcycle track days. I know ALL about the perils of acquiring insurance.

Why not just run the engine at one fixed rpm all the time? When the engine starts, have it run at 1500 rpm until the oil and coolant warm up, then have it throttle up to 4500 rpm all the time. It's not running the wheels, so it's rpm never needs to change. Just design the engine ports for 4500 rpm. This eliminates all of the extra complexities.

Amsoil sells a high Zinc oil. Perhaps that would be good for hybrids? Should hybrid engines have some sort of water separator like a diesel fuel system? Or, an oil heater that can heat the oil hot enough to boil off the water when the engine is off, but not so hot that it breaks down the oil? Could use the hybrid battery to do this.

Old video, but, that's the driven shaft, or axle shaft, not the drive shaft. The drive shaft has the pinion at the end of it.

Corn Ethanol is a subsidy for corn states. It's mostly used to get corn state representatives and senators to sign off on unrelated bills.

But is it worth the current asking prices? I say no. They sell for over $60k here in Vegas.

I first saw this back in 2002 while trying to tune a 2001 Hyundai Tiburon. Even though it had a mechanical throttle body, it kept hanging during shifts. Seems Hyundai realized they needed a way to hang the revs to improve emissions without re-engineering the entire engine control system. They're solution was a large idle air control motor that would activate to send air around the throttle body when it was closed quickly. The solution to the rev hang was to eliminate the IAC motor and drill a tiny hole in the throttle plate to allow enough air for the engine to idle.

May be better from an engineering standpoint, but not from a consumer standpoint. A turbo would make more power and not require premium fuel, which here in Vegas, costs 30 to 40 cents more per gallon than regular. Also, factory turbo cars are cheaper and easier to modify.

And as cruise control technology improves, eventually, you won't even need hand controls because all you'll have to do is steer.

The CVT should be quicker 0-60 in a turbocharged car, if it's programmed for performance. It should be able to take the engine immediately to peak torque and hold peak torque through the entire acceleration event. There's no loss of boost because there's no gear shift event. This should result in quicker acceleration. If it's not, then the software needs work.

Emilia Hartford proved the flat lane crank engine could handle turbocharging.

@12:30... The entire SouthWest laughs while dying of heat stroke.

According to TFL (they have a Mach-E premium awd and a Model Y performance), the Mach-E and Model Y are within 100Lbs of each other according to the door jamb stickers (Model Y is the heavier). I don't think the Model Y or the Mach-E are SUV's. They're station wagons. The manufacturer's marketing departments just don't like that word.
1
@4literv6 Obviously, a bigger battery weighs more. My point was they they're comparable vehicles (both have the same size battery) and the Model Y is heavier, if only by a tiny fraction.
1
@4literv6 I'm not debating which vehicle is better. I'm only correcting a statement about the Mach-E probably weighing more. No where in my comment did I say anything about either being better.
1
Did you see Emilia Hartford's Ferrari 296 pass? It's a mid 9 second car.
