Poor people also pay a good percentage of their income in late fees on things like utilities, rent, car payments, etc... If it wasn't for poor people, pay day loan stores would all close. Poor people have to take short term loans at 400% interest to keep from paying that $200 late fee on their rent. I was poor once and I remember being constantly hit with exorbitant fees that made it even harder to get ahead to where I wouldn't pay my bills late. I remember one time I was late on my power bill. I was going to pay it with my next paycheck (about $220/wk after taxes). Well, they turned me off one day before I got paid. When I went there to pay and get my power turned back on, they had added a $120 re-connection fee. These are the things poor people deal with that keep them poor.
