The villages has become terribly overcrowded and, just like in every city, problems grow. They do a lot of advertising, it is FL after all, tourism and retirees support the state.

Good for you.🙄

@jennifertackett2241 no. Mexicans lived in the US too. It just wasn't the US then. It was mexico!

@Michael L omg. Have you never seen "as time goes by" a sort of British soap w Judi Dench? This couple inherited a posh place in the country community where every minute of their lives were planned and everyone was supposed to do every planned thing together. They just wanted to rest and be together w each other, but the group wouldn't let them. That's the way many planned communities are. While looking for a place to move, I've seen comments where ppl complain about this in every country where English speaking ppl retire. Think of the mean girls in junior high. If you didn't fit in they bullied you, isolated you, and made your life miserable, although they were the first to welcome you and drag you into their lair. Just saying . . . This is one reason why ppl don't want to go or want to leave.

@EdSmed20 Well, that's true. Once a dear friend from Japan who had migrated, legally, to the US, said the worst propaganda in the world came from the US. She said that America promises great opportunity but delivers a seat at a desk in a large corporation w a chance to make great sums of money for the company while we are going nowhere.😒

@oahts5906 It is a popular language to study in school. English is composed of German and Latin. I was lucky to study both, then got an opportunity to live for a while in Germany. When I had to return to the states, I missed it terribly for a very long time. I discovered my nature was far better suited to Europe than the US. Germany was my first home as an adult and has a special place and meaning in my life. I returned to celebrate the freedom of the East, and to dance on the wall w an old friend who taught my young self the stories of East Germany as we wrapped care pkgs for its ppl to enjoy at Christmas. I'm blessed to have the memories.❤

@Daddylorian oh, today we have Texas taking up for us and giving us hope again. We also are moving toward a new election and we are hopeful for a president who focuses on our country and the wishes of its ppl. Of course, we aren't expecting miracles, but a dash of hope feels good!😂

STOP saying we are all immigrants! We who were born here are AMERICAN! It's a slap in the face to say everyone is an immigrant. Some Americans have come from families who have been here for many generations. How long must we live here before we can call ourselves Americans? When you kowtow to foreigners shamefully dropping your head and say "we are all immigrants," illegals confidently reply, "nobody owns this land, everyone is an immigrant."

And for Americans to get in.😢

Oh. From the picture, i thought this was the island from "Father Ted."
1
@DonLicuala maybe it's secretly a community of swingers. That could be why ppl are so friendly and welcoming. You know: "Come join our Villages said the spiders to the flies!" (I cannot believe I said that!)🙊
1
Repent and believe in Jesus Christ I'm not fond of ppl putting Bible verses in the comments, but I must say yours is right on.

Back in the 50s maybe, in small towns, but we say this is why it's called the American "dream. "

@dejacavu6259 not true, dear. Many ppl were here before the "native" Americans. Asians, for instance. Anyone born in a nation is a "native." The ppl formerly known as "Indians" took for themselves the term "native americans" and bc PC was popular at the time, the population went along w it. But, it's ridiculous to hold it as truth since neither were they the "original" inhabitants of the land, nor, by definition can they claim exclusivity of the term or concept. Repeat a falsehood often enough and, as you see, ppl begin to believe it and history is changed bc of it

@armandoruiz8758 (you forgot Hawaii and the commonwealths)😁

@angelabolin1730 I met tribal Americans in Germany who served in Nam, then spent the rest of their service in Germany, and became German citizens. They are NOT native Americans or German Americans or american Germans. They are Germans. If ppl want to know they are Germans, born in the USA of tribal ancestry.

@ignee1808 thank you for writing that, I was just about to do so.🙋♀️

HeYvd: It's not necessarily the laws or rules but the corruption of the agency staffers. They may hold all benefits for their own ppl and your paperwork may forever go in the trash. Well, it used to go in the trash, now it's likely to go to identity thieves, wh is big business here. Remember, the govt is not an entity. It's made up of ppl w their own agendas. Also remember this is not the 60s. You are not dealing w the ppl who espoused peace, love, and equality. Hope things are going better for you. Don't give up.❤

That's nice to hear a foreigner say something positive about Americans. Thanks.❤

@fightingtosurvive6527 CA is magnificent, but if you value your life, stay off route one!❤
1
@andyc6542 Problem is, we work do hard and long for small basics (wh we are constantly in danger of losing), we rarely get to see or do much even near home. Be careful what you envy.
1
@wawbagel one, you don't know "most ppl." and two, you haven't experienced life in every part of the US, so please don't tell us about our own country. One, you don't know what you are talking about, and two, you sound like a pompous 🫏.

@magnetistars3344 American here. I've lots of great friends from Russia (from international university and traveling). I worry for them and all the ppl of Russia. Please stay safe and live your best possible life. May you know peace.❤

@magnetistars3344 who is carefree?

@thenoticer777 perhaps we will see a change now that we have a leader in Govenor Abbott and the Texans. I'm an optimist but also a child of the universe. There are many great places in the world. If you develop a spirit of adventure, you will find them and be happy wherever you go. Ìf not, move on as long as you can. Life is a joy but doesn't last long. ❤
1
@thenoticer777 Immigration, especially illegal immigration, has been a very dangerous thing and destroyed much of what prosperity we had in America. We are sad to see the losses in Europe, especially of the once exceptional cultures. We understand and hope you will be able to regain enough of your own culture and rebuild the damaged places to make you adequately comfortable in your own land. Love from the States.❤
1
@SWalker71 sorry, but we REALLY don't need more ppl now, good or bad, but please come for a visit and enjoy yourself.❤
1
@farwoodfarm9296 yes. It's very hard to convince foreigners especially, who have bought the propaganda that its far more possible, especially for ppl òf the American culture to never own the dream or hold onto it. Many foreigners are privvy to advantages Americans will never know. If obtaining wealth were nothing but a job and hard work, we'd all be rolling in diamonds and furs, not garbage and hungar. Unfortunately, that's not the way it works in America.
1
@astridb9700 How sad for you! You sound like you have always considered yourself a second class citizen and are working hard to make others believe you are not one. There is no royalty in the States. Your wealth or station in life matters little to most and is transient at best. You need not make a case for either your status or lack thereof, or presume to know or understand the situations of those whose lives you never lived. One thing you can say about Americans, generally, they dont appreciate either the ungrateful or the braggard. ❤
1
@levetteford4919 yes. Great PR. Hope it makes you some sales. ❤
1
@jonlouis2582 I volunteered at a mission where the owner told me her secret wish for her life was to always have a private room w a door and a key to turn its lock. I believe this is everyone's secret wish in America, now that most ppl, if they are willing to admit it, see that homelessness comes from any situation you find yourself in that cannot be controlled by you.

@ihateeverything9887 you aren't the only one.🤷♀️
1
@wawbagel Sir. As a therapist, please don't deny anyone's reality. It's the most psychologically hurtful thing you can do to a person.

@cheapbongs have a delicious time!🙋♀️🤗

@lorrie5881 You are very sweet.

@MN12warbird it happened too fast, i think. Before we had time to figure out what was going on, it was done.🙆♀️

@kennethboehnen271 and you. Crime happens everywhere. Nobody is free of that!☮️

They aren't becoming citizens, they are just taking a break from home. Hence "expats."
1
@EmilyYChase ppl used to be welcome in Mexico bc they spent their money there, even if they were illegal. But its vastly different now. You have to apply for visa in your own country & be approved if you have the income and savings required. You are given a sort of ID card that is required for opening a bank acct or renting. Very different rules if you want to move in today. Before you sell your stuff, make sure you understand the rules!
