@livinglifetothefullest22 Don't complain. There are a lot more of those jobs than degreed ones and they pay a lot better, plus you have every chance to work for yourself. I'm not talking about an asst mgr job at McDs that requires a degree as an entry level requirement, I'm talking about so-called "professional" jobs like engineers, geologists, pharmacists, etc. Jobs that you aren't likely to get unless your dad or husband owns the company.

@pepitodegranolax my boss was a farm boy. 1980 we worked for a TX oil company. I asked him why he became a petrol engineer/geologist (dual degrees). He told me that on a farm you would never starve, but you would never have much money either. There were still chances for the American dream just after ww2 I guess, but the returning vets & their liberated wives of the 70s put themselves through college while raising a family & didn't fair any better than young ppl today, despite what you may have heard. The boys found that there wasn't a great need for "professionals," bc the children of the wealthier pros got those jobs, lower level jobs were controlled by the guys who valued experience over education (bc they believed that &, not having a college education couldn't judge its value AND were afraid the employee w a degree might take over his job as boss. As for women, their law degrees might get them a job as a legal secretary, but men weren't about to take a chance w their businesses by hiring as yet unproven women in pro jobs. Course, by the 80s we had high inflation and a hostage situation as well as uncontrolled immigration . . . The job situ has always been a game of chance where everybody guessed wrong but always hoped. Too bad you can't eat hope.😢

@DonJuanDM That's true but bc nearly everyone has a degree, most companies require it. It's like prior times when "you aint going nowhere wo that high school diploma." Remember?

@chocolatefaerie good for you, but, everything you learn is useful at some time in life. Never turn down any chance to learn something. ❤
