@DabiOW I don't think it was senseless whim. I think it was destined to happen later if the United States and the rest of NATO insisted that Ukraine could one day be a member. I just thought that the chaos that Russia had sown and nurtured in Ukraine meant that NATO membership was off the table for now and that Russia could afford to wait. I also thought it unlikely that Russia would come in at more-or-less the same time that the western noise machine was saying they would. I could understand if he'd been openly preparing for an invasion the way the United States did prior to going into Iraq in '91 or '03, but if you are going to deny it in the lead up, why make yourself into a liar and your adversaries into seers by following their timetable? That, I didn't get.

I'm in the same boat. I was confident Russia wouldn't attack at this time, but I was wrong.
