  1. Russia always appears to be weaker than they are. Total war is their A-Game, and it always has been. On another note, there is no good reason to assume that patriotism in the United States is more durable than in Russia or China. The concept that Chinese only support their government because of super impressive economic growth is wishful thinking. The Chinese have a keen sense of consequence regarding invasion and if they feel threatened they will show up.
