  2.  @Nesher92  "The prc belif is not supported by facts. The Taiwanese one is." You're mistaken, but even if you were correct, it wouldn't matter. The PLA and the Taiwan defence forces are not going to face off in a debate. They're likely going to go to war.

  3.  @Nesher92  As a frequently accused PRC bot, I think there is something that you need to understand. The people of China believe to their marrow that Taiwan is an inseparable part of China. They believe this every bit as much as you believe that "Taiwan is not prc territory." If a government in Taiwan ever declares itself independent, the Chinese government, with the overwhelming support of the Chinese people, will militarily attempt to reclaim control of Taiwan, and they will probably succeed. Even if no government in Taiwan declares independence, if the prospect for peaceful reunification fails to materialize by the centennial of the founding of the People's Republic, I fully expect the same to occur. It does not matter that the majority of Taiwan's residents are against it. It certainly does not matter if you or I are against it.

  4. I appreciate your willingness to present both sides of the argument, but I have one serious complaint. You conflate the aboriginal Taiwanese and their experiences with those of the current residents of Taiwan, of whom 95% are Han Chinese and only about two percent are Native Taiwanese. The actual Native Taiwanese can claim to have always been forcibly ruled by outsiders. According to their experience, the great majority of Taiwan's current residents, including nearly all of those calling for independence, are outsiders.
