Not all propaganda is wrong or even wrong-headed and not everyone who disagrees with you is spewing propaganda.

Okay, I really like the idea behind this, and I've suggested it myself. But how do we keep those who need a lot more time to master a subject (or several subjects) able to complete their secondary education before they reach adulthood? How do we keep colleges from discriminating against the students who finish their math requirements at age twenty-one, versus those who got it taken care of by age seventeen? Are we as a society going to fund someone who spends seven years in high school? Are we going to provide childcare while they finish mastering their English requirements or their Biology requisites? Do these students get to continue with advanced courses if it took them three years to master the basic ones? I know that our current system has similar, and in some cases worse, failings. I'm not suggesting that this isn't a better approach. I actually think it is. But in order to put it into effect, we're going to require a system overhaul and a radical adjustment in our expectations. Are we prepared to do that?

@gameslane4908 We owe Washington for the precedent of leaving office before he died. We owe Adams for the precedent of admitting defeat, not challenging the results, and stepping down without making a scene. It's a highly underappreciated precedent, but it has a lot of influence on the survival of our system. I really don't think that we would have seen that level of magnanimity (albeit begrudged magnanimity) from either Jefferson or Hamilton had they lost a presidential election while in office. If not for the precedents set by Washington and Adams, we might very well have had the kinds of disputed elections, bloodshed, and chaos that you see in so many young democracies today.

@danielrodrigues4903 We're probably going to have to enhance our own intelligence by merging with AI. The age of cyborgs will soon be upon us. Otherwise we risk becoming irrelevant.

We owe so much to the precedents set by John Adams.
