I doubt your definition of the whole world extends beyond the friends of the United States. The west isn't totally in control anymore and it certainly doesn't represent the whole world.

I think it's a pretty balanced group of pro-mainland nationalists and anti-Chinese sabre rattlers. In both camps, some of them have some idea of what they're talking about, while a slim majority has no clue.

@Jimmy2toes4u I think you've bought in to some pretty vicious anti-Chinese ideological propaganda. China's behavior towards its minorities overall has been quite supportive and anecdotal allegations of abuse, while potentially plausible at an individual level, are certainly unproven, and I would say extremely unlikely, on a systemic scale.

@Jimmy2toes4u Countries considering foreign investment, whether from China, Japan, or the west, have an obligation to their people to vet the offer thoroughly. I wouldn't refer to that level of inspection as push-back, but rather as due-diligence. Nor would I consider that careful scrutiny of investment options as suspicious of China. Investment recipients know full well that Chinese investments are designed to benefit China first and the recipient second—such is the nature of investment. Criticism of China, however, seems to be coming predominately from the anglosphere, from India, and to a lesser extent from western Europe. While this is an important part of the world, it is not the totality of the world. The rest of the world, regardless of whether or not they are participating in the Chinese foreign investment regime, are far less critical of China, in part because they don't trust the western anti-Chinese narrative, and for good reason.

@KingZercules Actually most people in Taiwan have ancestral villages on the mainland. If people in Taiwan can be identified as trouble makers they could be repatriated to their ancestral villages where trouble making would become a lot more complicated. I don't know if China would do this, but it would be an option for them.

@KingZercules I'd say they just want to win a decisive victory to put their country back together and get this nightmare of division behind them. Don't get me wrong, China is not above intimidating other countries, but then again, no great power ever has been.
