There's very little that is realistic about this scenario. China has no beef with Singapore. In fact Singapore is probably one of the most China-friendly polities in the region. So if you can imagine China attacking Singapore, you can imagine Malaysia not getting involved.

@kingofchebureki3448 Perhaps. It would definitely be a completely different kind of conflict than an attack limited to Singapore. China's enemies would have more resources, but the Chinese army would have direct access to the battlefield and the difficulties of strictly maritime air operations would be somewhat mitigated.

@Dies1r4e China is just like every other country. They'll attack another country if they believe it is in their best interest. Most of the time attacking another country has greater costs than benefits. China is pretty rational in its policies. I think Singapore is pretty safe.

@Dies1r4e Xi hasn't set a date taking Taiwan by force. He's said that Taking Taiwan by force is an option and that Taiwan cannot permitted to declare independence. That, and everything else you mentioned, assuming what you are referring to as polluting fishing waters is island building, are in China's interest, you know, Rational.

@Dies1r4e Attacking a neighbor can be in your interest, but usually it's not. China hasn't attacked a neighbor since Vietnam in 1979, and that didn't go so well. It doesn't relate much to today however—so many things have changed. I guess you can argue that what's in a particular government's interest isn't always in the peoples to which they serve's interest. But on the whole, the CCP has done well for the Chinese people and in most instances the Chinese people feel that the success of the CCP is in their best interests. I would agree.
